I've come to realise the reason I can only get about 175 miles out of a tank is because I ride like a twat most evenings..

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Earlier I managed to get a quick blast after cleaning the bobbins on the front discs last week, still got vibes from the brake so managed to get my cheap dial gauge on the job and measured the disc runout at 0.13mm on the right, 0.27mm on the left... I can't find an official spec but I think that my recently repaired helmet* may be up for sale to fund a set of discs and pads.
0.27mm seems a lot for a brake disc... I will also get the wheel checked to be sure that the disc mounting faces are true, £80 seems okay for that as it takes specialist equipment to true them up if they are out (a lathe big enough to swing a 17" object + a skilled machinist's time and experience), as is apparently common on the KTM 1290's.
*HJC RPHA70 Carbon, kept cracking visors so has been back and inspected, all good with it's 3rd new visor in 6 months.
Why did I trade the MT-10 again?

Like you say Stonesie maybe the mounting face is out if it's a common defect on ktm bikes.
Hopefully it is that as cheaper than new discs and maybe ktm will / should contribute as it's clearly a fault that existed when it left the factory.
Hope you get it sorted pal.

Took the Street out for a couple of hours in the glorious sunshine we have here this weekend.
I must say again that the quickshifter on this bike is awesome. I had one on the RC8 (through a PC III) and it was poo so i sold it on. This one is a keeper
Plus the belly pan didnt fall off, so all good

Saw my first muntjac deer. It crossed the road about20 yards ahead of me, not far from home.

Played a game of dodge the dickhead in the transit... Not your normal game though, this one was violently swerving between lanes and standing on the brakes whenever I tried to pass him.
This was on a wide dual carriageway in traffic doing 40mpg
I waited patiently for a clear gap on one side and deployed the VTEC with full effect, and signalled my application appropriately...

Thankfully I've not had the pleasure of one of those for a while. You start to spot them after a while. Good job they're aren't many like that.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
I had some road rage on Sunday with a guy in a BMW filled with his family. Long slightly downhill bend to a dual carriageway (40mph to 60mph) and I was off throttle yet catching up to him at less than 35mph, I was slowly getting closer to him and trying to slow down but he kept getting slower too. He was then braking down to 5mph and I was millimeters from his bumper. Red lights on the dual carriageway and I pull alongside him, he's yelling, I tell him to shush and have the look of "I don't know why you're bothering to yell at me" on my face. He's threatening violence like a primate when the lights change and I move on. He was an overweight mid 50s man who was due a heart attack judging by looking at him.

I hate when people do 40 mpg. Put your foot down and use up that fuel.D6Nutz wrote:

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Took the front wheel off the GT and put it in the back of the car. After work today it is being dropped off to check the disc mounting faces are true as I have had some brake judder issues.
I was bored on my week off so took a BMW R1250 R out and the brakes were amazing, the KTM should be that good so I'm getting it sorted before a long weekend around Scotland.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
I've never been impressed with the brakes on any of the KTMs I've ridden. There's a real lack of feel IMO.

I've never understood how brakes feel different bike to bike even when using the exact same system and bled by the same people

Different pad compounds most likely if the hydraulic ratios are the same.
