Re: Battery Recommendations
If you want the best go lithium and go for Shorai.
If you want good and cheap get a gel cell Yuasa for about 40 sheets.

Re: Battery Recommendations
Cheers guys.. in your experiences are the claims that a gel battery is better in situations like mine (long term neglect) than a regular battery true?
I've found the MotoBatt for £37 from a UK shop I've never heard of or £42 on eBay.
The stock Yuasa battery is £47 in Halfords but I haven't looked around to see how much cheaper I can find it.

Re: Battery Recommendations
Don't think the neglect will make any difference, TBH, if its kept charged now and again.
I have had a Motobatt on the 748 for about 5 years till it gave up the ghost last winter.

I've had all sorts of batteries and all have been fine as long as they're maintained

Re: Battery Recommendations
Just checked my service records for the Honda.
Replaced the battery in 2010 for a Yuasa and still going strong.

Re: Battery Recommendations
Now that you have a bikeshed with power, may I suggest that whatever you decide on you also invest in a battery maintenance/charger. Fwiw I use an Optimate, and it keeps the battery from sulphating & ensures that the bike is always charged & ready to go.Cav wrote:I neglected my bike for over 2 years and the battery is dead as the seagull Iannone headbutted.

Re: Battery Recommendations
Motobatt for me too. However at the moment I've still got the orginal battery (2013) and that thing is still going strong so haven't needed to change. I have had a motobatt blow up on me too, I smelt something really foul as i was riding home, got home checked out where the smell was coming from and pulled out the battery, it had swelled up more than a pair of bullocks from a spiders bite haha! It was due to my reg/ rec dieing on me not the batteries fault!
Also StMarks makes a good point defo get a optimate to that bike when in your workshop, you have the supple be silly not to use it to its full potential

Re: Battery Recommendations
Good point on the optimate - though at the minute power to the workshop is only from an extension lead which I bring in when I'm not out there.
The Yuasa on mine hasn't been charged once in my ownership (6-7 years I think) and it's gone flat twice - bump start worked both times. If you guys are recommending MotoBatt and it's currently cheaper I'll likely get one of those on order.
Thanks all
