Conveyancing solicitors are a touchy lot. We all know it's not proper law.
I'll keep you posted about the party

so if I'm reading right, you and this headmistress are swapping houses? you'd think that would make things simpler!

No. We're not.
Bloke is buying from us to rent the house out.
We're buying from the headmaster.
She's moving to an apartment.
It's only a 3 house chain.

The circus is still in town.
Our buyer is insisting on the 31st August, even though he's not moving in to the house.
We don't know if the woman we're buying from can do the 31st. She's already had to make a few re-arrangements to get the 24th in the diary.

Who would go in the tent? If our buyer won't do it before the 31st I can't move in on the 24th unless I take out a bridging loan.
If she can't do the 31st she can't move on the 24th without my money unless she takes out a bridging loan.

We're waiting to hear if our buyer is still insisting on the 31st August, which no one else can do.

I can see why they say buying a house is the most stressful purchase you'd ever make now!!

It gets worse. All of the paperwork needs to be amended as the buyer's solicitors have cocked up.
FFS.
Another 2 or 3 weeks delay I reckon.
I'll be lucky to be in before Christmas at this rate.

That's a joke mate, seriously bad. Can't believe they been keeping you on the hook like that. Later it gets the worse weather you will see and it will be horrible to move all your bits around. Bunch of to553rs!

Moving house is probably the worst experience you can have in life.
The people who do the conveyancing are generally bell ends of the highest order.
We are starting to think about down-sizing...and the idea fills me with dread.

To be fair to my solicitor they were very good but then my buyer appointed a retard who didn't even understand the basics of conveyancing and that was my solicitors comment about them which I full agree with.
The chain is as they say as strong as it's weakest link and get one fookwit on-board and your doomed from the outset.
Hang in there Kwacky it will come good in the end and be worth it.
