That was Kiwi when he realised he's got the kids this weekend.

Re: Reasons not to go to Australia, part 24753
It’s the driest here than any other time in the 16 yes I’ve lived here. My water tank finally ran dry so have been doing runs with my 1000L bulk container and paid for a 6000L delivery last week. Having chlorine in the water (fill points are town water) is very noticeable after only using rain water all this timeKwacky wrote:https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-australia-45043299

That’s some serious bad luck. I’ve handled sea snakes while diving a number of times.

Re: Reasons not to go to Australia, part 24753
Because as long as you let them come to you and don’t crowd them they are inquisitive and friendly creatures. They love running through your hands and between your arms. There is next to no danger from bite if you are predictable and you are protected by a layer of neoprene as well. They have extremely small mouths and can only really bite a ungloves hand between the fingers in the webs. They can’t fit an adult finger in their gob.D41 wrote:Why, FFS??
Plus it’s a cool experience. Placing yourself close to a wild and technically dangerous creature, let them feel comfortable with you and engage on their terms, it’s very humbling and relaxing.
I’ve dived with way more scarier marine life than a sea snake.

Makes sense. I've seen enough wildlife shows where people are handling animals that would give most the creeps.

Confidence is king. I had a small wild cobra rear up next to me when I was in Sri Lanka. I just stood there, let him take a look then watched him slide away.
Venomous animals invest a lot in making their toxins. They don't like to waste them.

Re: Reasons not to go to Australia, part 24753
I didn't see it. I was chatting to my mate and a local guy. My mate said "don't move, just liook down". There was this cobra, its hood about level with my knee, just staring up at me. Once I made eye contact it turned and slithered off.

Don't even need to go to Australia to get a potentially fatal snake bite. Prague should do it.

Mambas are nasty. They'll hunt down humans if they're pissed off.
