Time for new gloves

I'm currently using Alpinestars SP2's, and while they don't cause me any problems and I have crash tested a previous pair I know there is much better out there and now with no missus to tell me what to spend the price is less of an issue.

Was looking at the Five gloves as heard a lot of good things on here about them, but a forum search only brought up the waterproof ones.

Anyone here had them or have any other good suggestions?

Five are supposed to be excellent but the waterproof ones I had weren't waterproof. They were made out of top quality materials but I had to return mine.

Did remember reading that, although I'm after the opposite end of the spectrum, something that allows good airflow. Fingers are getting wrinkly from sweat on these hot days. They aren't priced too bad so maybe worth a punt. The RFX Race ones look awesome but $600! I'm happy to spend a bit more but not that much!

Knox Handroids are awesome gloves. Crash tested mine twice and they're still good. Excellent customer service too and they're probably the comfiest gloves I've tried on.
Others to consider would be
Arc-on. Good gloves but didn't quite fit me so I'm going to have to return them
Held phantom or titan. Titans seem to be widely regarded as one of the best gloves on the market. Held will also custom make your gloves if you want extra armour or have weird shaped hands (for a price obviously)

Everyone is suggesting mlre pricier gloves but what aboit the RST Tracktech gloves. I have them and actually feel nice and comfy and always just enough air through on those hot days...British hot days at least!!!

Have a look at the Held range, I’ve crash tested the Phantoms and bought another pair as replacements.

Had this battle recently. Bought some rst gloves and seemed nice but fit was just out and caused pain. Bought some held gloves at the nec and after talking to the held distributor. We went though options and I have the Chikara gloves went for these as they have most of the amour but more feel. Apparently the supersport guys use these for that reason. However I did also buy a set of the arc-on gloves and after swapping to get the right size the fit and amour is good. Not used either on the bike yet will update when I have

Just bought the Five’s I first posted

Looked into all the recommendations but only the Knox and Fives were available in Aussie, and only the Fives at store level.

Feel really good on and looking forward to trying them out on the bike.

I had a VERY poor experience with five gloves, when I had my accident they just come apart at the stitching, considering it was only a small 30mph slide I was less than impressed, their customer service was terrible too, took over 3 months before they offered to even repair them if I sent them off to cost to me or offered me the newer model half price.

My main point was as race gloves that cost nearly £200 I expected far better quality they I got and I'm glad I hadnt crashed on track in them, hopefully mine were a 1 off an yours are fine, but personally, no chance of me using them again

Tried the gloves out yesterday. Fit is bang on, like it’s been custom made. These are designed for max airflow and they sure deliver. It was a 34 deg day and my hands were nice and cool and didn’t get sweaty at all. But if a hassle doing up as they have a thin strap directly under the palm and then the wrist strap. The first thin one had to go under a flap extending from the palm padding, which makes it a bit fiddly.

Overal on first impressions I’ll be pretty happy with these. Need some new winter ones now. The ones I have are big bulky buggers.

Well my Alpinestar SP-2's that I use when it's not roasting hot have fallen apart (think I got close to 8 yrs, was wearing them when i crashed the ZX10R)

After having the Five RFX summer gloves for a while now, I've decided to give some mid season Fives a go. So just bought these

Kwacky, I know you said you had issues with waterproof ones, but I don't expect more than light rain protection out of these. If I do ride in pouring rain, I always use waterproof over gloves.

Mine leaked and went back. I'm guessing your chances of testing the water proof qualities are much reduced
