Ive made a few posts alluding to me changing my Triumph and replacing it ... more recently, it was a 10 plate Blade with 800 miles on the clock.
So apologies for boring you with that one.

The fact of the matter is, I had a great bonus from work following last years performance and I thought now was as good a time to swap the Triumph.
But in reality, now the Spudlets have stopped chipping paint off the skirting boards and knocking wallpaper off, I/we have decided to modernize the family abode. New windows, spindles on the bannister, new carpets and a patio ... so there goes the bonus

However ... it gives me an incentive to work for next years bonus

So instead I've had the Daytona serviced and gave it a blat this afternoon ... all is good with the World

I'd call you a big fanny, but at the end of the day you love that bike and it shows. You can even still see some of the original paint underneath all that polish!

So it's not exactly a hardship to hang onto it.

Bad luck on the tyre though.

When you stated 10 plate 800 mile blade I was getting excited. When I look at how much bike you can get for 4 grand it makes me cross at the amount of money I've thrown into buying an old bike and trying to make it newer.. People may like what I've done to the bike but I'm sure they think I'm stupid for spending 3.5k on a 2k bike.

It sounds as if you've postponed the decision for another year. How about this year spending some money on a track day or advanced riding and seeing if that causes you to want another bike?

There will always be other things you can do with your money, but if the urge was strong enough that the bike needed changing you would have changed it rather than do up the house.

To my mind, you've probably made the right decision with your bonus as the family should come first IMO. There will come a time when you won't have the spudlets around and then can be a bit more gung-ho with the pennies.

There is part of me that wishes I'd kept my D650 as they are a great looking bike even now. I don't regret my current bike, quite the reverse but new toys are a luxury when you have a nice toy already.

Well I'm going to be the rebel and say stopping being sensible their is always something more important to spend your money on if you look into it. Your always considering changing bike so I think its something you really want. I would say treat yourself to a bike stair spindles can wait they will never bring you the same joy as a new bike.

Whilst I was in the shop waiting for my tyres, I saw the guy had a Daytona 650 in there.
I looked at it with a wistful pang, all those memories came flooding back and I immediately thought of this thread.
But when I had a walk around it and a nosey, you could see a few issues like the worn paint around the yoke, the crack in the nose fairing, the dated clocks.

I don't regret ever having the Daytona, not one bit. But then I also don't regret changing it.

You'll know when it's time to change Spud. Until then, enjoy the classic!

Just March into a dealer and buy a demonstrator Spuds. Blow the money, blow the expense. You'll regret it for 2 mins and enjoy it for years.

The thrill of not worrying about the cost occasionally because you've earnt it, you want it, you need it......

I've just done it with a car, scariest thing, but thrilling and ultimately what life's about

Weird that because i put a deposit down on a new Audi last weekend and though the figures per month are not much more than i am paying now for the Skoda, the full cost of the car if i went out and splashed cash down on the counter would be nearly as much as my first house.....which is fecking scary.

A4 Avant. Gone for comfort rather than sporting prowess. I seem to spend so much of my time in the car and this came with all the bells and whistles you would need for comfort plus i managed to get a very large discount what with the deal Audi were offering plus a tidy sum extra from the dealer.

That's really nice, I like the avant. I nearly had one before I bought my current estate. I wouldn't be without an estate now, so useful.
