All in one PCs

Post by duke63 »

Is there any downsides to these?

I have to have a Windows PC for work and the latest all in ones would save some space and probably dust everywhere but is there anything i need to be wary of?

Any suggestions for good places to buy?

As it's tax deductible, I'd go for one of these.

http://www.apple.com/uk/imac-with-retina/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You can get MS office for 79 quid per year including 1tb of cloud storage. Plus it will run a virtual version of Windows for your accounting software.

And before anyone says it's expensive, it is but 5 year old Macs sell for at least a third of their original purchase price.

The accounting and payroll software isn't mac compatible. Otherwise it would be a no brainer personally and i would do what you suggest, Monty.

I've got Windows 7 on mine and can either run it as a virtual machine within OSX or boot it as an actual Windows PC.

As a virtual machine I've not found any Windows software I can't run and I use a lot of bespoke manufactures software.

Even a fairly basic laptop should have enough computing power for your needs. Microsoft are pushing windows 10 at the moment so there are probably some bargains to be had. pcadvisor.co.uk are pretty good for reviews. Also fwiw I am using libre office at the moment as it's free and will open any office document.
Windows 10 is available as a free upgrade if you have an old windows laptop knocking round? A reinstall of windows usually gets them working well again. 360 total security is a very highly rated free anti virus if you're interested. (blahblah)

I've just downloaded windows 10.

I gotta say I hate apple stuff. Just can't use it as I'm not used to it. And have no intention of ever wanting to. I fiond windows does everthing I need, as a regular user.

Sorry it seems to be only windows 7 and 8.1 at the moment but extending the offer to vista has been mentioned. If your laptop is slow reinstalling windows can work wonders though.

All new Macs are Intel based PCs, so you run Windows or Mac OSX. Plus if you want you can run them both at the same time with Windows running inside OSX as a virtualised machine.

You could boot up in Windows for work and boot up OSX for everything else.

That's how I set mine up, but over time found myself just using OSX and a virtual windows for the stuff OSX can't do. Which isn't much.

Your welcome to pop round and test your accounting software on my Mac if you want.
