Just tried to book an online appointment with my GP and i get told there are no current appointments but i can book a paid for service with a pharmacist or outside partner.

If you go online to complete your track and trace details it tells you your data is going to an American company.

I'd take that as a good thing. The U.S. has been doing private healthcare for a long time. It's far from perfect, and sometimes might involve a little bit more running around to get you to the right specialist, should you need one.
But it does work ...and ultimately keeps all that money in the private sector & out of government hands - and the government has a LOT of hands!!

Giving away our personal data to a foreign company for them to sell is a good thing?

If it's being used to pursue better health services then yes, I don't see why not.
I don't think they're intending to use it to target specific individuals negatively, are they?? I mean, this is healthcare we're talking about.

As if the US is a model of healthcare perfection.

There's no evidence that the data is going to healthcare companies.

Who else would be interested in it, and to what purpose?

The government wanted to gift access to all patients personal notes to a US company not so long ago. It was part of the digitisation process and moving all the data to the cloud.

Fortunately capita where running the project and **** it up as usual.

With my umbrella company, one of the perks is a free virtual GP service. I think it's becoming a lot more common.

Since COVID is actual not that bad getting a phone appointment. I can't see the surgery wanting to go back to face to face.
