If you had a choice of a project bike to strip and rebuild in the garage what would you buy ?
I fancy a 998s but don't actually like twins to ride but without doubt they are a beautiful timeless classic

I'd love an old Triumph/Norton/BSA. Proper old-fashioned oil dripper.

Yes or one of those old bmws where the engine sticks out past your knees
There were some stunning old cafe racers at caffeine and machine last time I went

998 was the bike of my childhood so I would definitely choose that.

A friend in the street I grew up in had a motorcycle book and we would each flick through the pages, choose a bike then ride around on our push bikes pretending to be that bike. I always chose the 998... best childhood memories I had.

Something fairly simple.

Air cooled Ducati - 900SS or early Monster
Parallel twin Triumph

but top of my list would be a Moto Guzzi.

Something without fairings...or at best just minimal bodywork. It'd be a shame to spend a load of time & money on something then cover it in plastic-wrap.
Thruxton is a good choice.
