They both admit the 90bhp 916 is more fun than the 200bhp+ V4
Less is sometimes so much more.

I found the 916 engine to be lumpy. It put me off V twins.

It is...mine is very different though. The 748 likes revs.
The engine is not a new design 25 years ago.
