Factory sticker removal

Now that I'm back off my course I can start to look at the bike pressies I got last weekend. One of the goodies is a decal set, so I need to clean and degrease the tank, but more importantly I need to get those annoying stickers off the tank.

You know the ones? Those annoying ones that tell you to only put petrol in the tank and whatnot.

What's the best way?

Halfords do a spray called "sticky stuff" I think that's what it's called , spray it on what you want to get off leave it for 5-10 minutes and they will help get it off, have a look on Halfords site I'm sure it's called 'sticky stuff'.

Not sure about the Kwak ones, but all the Triumph ones I've had have responded to being very warm and then just starting a corner and pulling gently and letting it peel at its own speed. Mrs Gee has got some "Sticky Stuff Remover" which works, but only slowly and only on the sticky residue (oops) , but it does work and ime doesn't damage the paintwork.

I've done it before by gently peeling the sticker off and cleaning up with either WD40 or petrol.

But then I'm not known for my mechanical / bodyshop skills (blush)

Any of the above or alcohol. Or just good old fashioned elbow grease!

You're a chop Bratty (rolf) (rolf)

Mrs Casper thought me years ago to rub a little butter on the sticker, leave for an hour or so, and Voila.....

I'm sure if you use some paint stripper & a blow lamp, you will be sure to remove it Itchy.

An angle grinder gets stubborn stickers off pretty well and as a bonus, you have new stickers to hide the damage. winner

Each time I get the butter out my wife runs away.

I guess she's seen Last Tango In Paris

Cheers for all the replies, I'll give the butter a whirl first, if no joy then hair dryer.
And will keep an eye out for the odd looks whilst I butter up my bike and give it a perm!

leave it in the sun, that should make the glue tacky. Peel off as much as you can by hand then use a label remover.

Well what do you know?

Just went out to butter the bike up and thought "I'll just see if they come off with a fingernail that should've been cut a couple of days ago.

Turns out to be pretty easy really. There's the slightest bit of residue from where the edges of the stickers were, but nothing that can't be addressed with a rag and 2 minutes of rubbing.

Much like my sex life then, really.

I have found a combination of milf piss mixed 50/50 with gypsy tears the most effective. Give it a try I've got bottles of the stuff if you want some.
