Unfortunately Virgin can't reconnect our cable broadband for some reason, so looking down the route of a new package.

Any views on BT or Sky cable/TV packages?

BT comes out cheaper, but is an 18 month contract with less channels.

I've just gone back to Sky from Virgin but that was mainly because I was loosing internet connection and having problems with catch up TV etc but that might be the area I live in, happy with sky tho.

Can't you play one off against the other? Both normally offer good deals for new customers.

Had both and BT's customer service was diabolical, Sky was over priced but their customer service was good but my internet speed was rubbish.

I now don't have a TV at all and watch anything I want online and use Plusnet. There service has been exceptional and have never had a problem downloading programmes.
One half hour programme took sky a whole day. Live streaming is no problem

Plusnet are very cheap and the phone service is a little like a top up on a mobile. It emails you when you have only 5.00 credit then you just log in and top up in multiples of 10.

BT are much cheaper and you will get the motogp coverage which is excellent.

Sky have a lot more channel's that BT but if there not the ones you watch then it doesn't really matter.

Ive just switched from Sky to BT, as has been said BT customer service is awful but as it comes out at about half of what I was paying for Sky I can live with that for now

That pretty much reflects word for word what everyone else has told me.

We've used catch up for the last 18months with no need for a TV or licence even, might just carry that on with plusnet

The best about plus net is if you have a question you log on to their website and a little live guru pops up and answers you there and then. Even when I was signing up she stayed on live chat and helped me fill in the form on line until it was done.

The service was up and running earlier than expected , which was good as Sky cut me off 24 hours earlier than they said as well.

I sold all my TV's and bought an iMac 27 and a large screen laptop so Mr BB and I sit in the snug room and he watches what he wants or surfs the net and I do the same but with headphones

Netflix was good but after a while there was nothing new so cancelled that and just signed up with now tv for 4.99 a month.
Anything else you can always find a live stream from somewhere to watch motogp

Against the rave reviews, we went with sky in the end.

Was the cheapest package for fibre unlimited in our area.

Plusnet was coming out more expensive due to the initial set up costs.

12 month contract with Sky too. 18months with BT and Plusnet put me off a bit

I think they're much of a muchness. You'll hear good and bad things about all of the big suppliers. Fingers crossed it's a quick insal

A bit late to this,, apologies, but Sky are offering half price tv for 12 months to new customers. If you can Jlawie, maybe call them and mention this offer and see if they can still give it to you?
