Must be a lot of bent solicitors about then because they are supposed to report it to SOCA if they have any suspicions that the money is being laundered.

Didn't Channel 4 cover this a few weeks ago? They showed estate agents and solicitors being aware of dirty money being laundered through properties

Absolutely, I watched it and it was clear as day that the Estate Agent knew the score but just wanted the Commision.
Dirty money does happen though, the company I work for has a money laundering policy and I had to sign it when I joined, funnily enough one of our customers is currently undergoing a good scrubbing by the Inland Revenue and the word is they want blood, plus it's been speculated for years this particular guy was passing money through his books for an underworld mate, fingers crossed he's clean.

Presumably because it's the great and the good that are commanding outrageous prices for their London houses.

Realistically I don't know, when challenged at the end of the programme, the companies concerned all denied knowledge of it not being kosher, surprise surprise.

I'm sure that the Solicitors Regulation Authority will be onto this and will be asking some very awkward questions.

.......because it'll be some of their top brass involved. Funny handshake clubs and all that.
