Fasting diet

Started the 'Fasting Mimicking' diet. Supposed to reset your digestive system in just 5 days. We will see.

Be interested to see how you go with this Duke.. I could probably do with lowering my calories atm :?

I think fasting will cause more damage to your body than good,your gut needs food to digest otherwise your stomach acid will play havoc on your internals.I was put on omeprazole for over a year for acid reflux until i met a good doctor who asked about my eating habits,i always skipped breakfast and as soon as i started eating something in the morning the acid reflux went away within a week
I not keen on fad diets ,exercise regularly and eat a balanced diet will work better in the long term

this diet mimics fasting by reducing calorie input dramatically, perkles

But you still eat three meals a day, just very healthy ones of mainly vegetables and salads, soup and eggs.

eat small portions regularly is the best way to eat ,bit like a cow munching on grass

Try these Duke, I lived on them when I did an exclusion diet and to be honest prefer them to bread now. Great with any curry or Dahl and 100% veg and protein.

TBH i have never dieted as such in my life before so this is a learning curve for me. There are allegedly health benefits aside from the losing of weight to this one.

The plan reckons the first three days are tough as the body readjusts itself.

Still nothing ventured then nothing gained as they say. Might need my porridge for breakfast by Thursday though. I could quite happily often skip lunches if I have my porridge for breakfast.

Never really agree with any diet tbh, I always say listen to your body and eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full.

Over indulgence happens so don't beat yourself up about it.

We are all intelligent enough to know good from bad foods and a little of what you fancy never does you harm.

Trouble is we are sold a lot of 'food' without knowing anything about what is in it, how its grown and where its come from.

I don't entirely disagree with you but as I get older I realise how vitally important it is to maintain good health to be able to continue to do things I have always taken for granted.

just an update. First day was tough and i felt hungry and had a dull headache up until lunchtime on day two and which point everything started feeling much easier.

Last two days have been fine, not felt especially hungry at all and if i am honest actually feel much better for it. Did a run yesterday with no issues at all and in fact felt better than I have whilst running for a while.

Its an eyeopener to how much we eat that we don't actually need.

The problem with that is the way we eat and what we eat. A lot of overweight people say they feel hungry all the time, that's because they're not eating the right foods and their body is telling them in the only way it can.

Another issue is stomach size. You can increase your stomach size if you eat large enough portions. Your body then expects similar sized portions each time you eat. That's why the fasting diets or limited calorie diets are good because it resets a lot of your digestive system.

Very interesting duke. Cheers for keeping us in the loop for this one.

I used to have a very bad diet and only just stopped it really because of weight gain. I would eat a massive bowl of cereal in the mornings which would make me full for the whole day (10hr day average) get home stuff my fave with biscuits and choc then cook a meal.

Think work got the better of me in all honesty 10-12 hour days in quite a physical environment I was shattered and couldn't be arsed to make any lunch so would compensate for it before and after work.

I looked at my weight only a couple months ago and realised I was pushing 70kg and trousers were beginning to not fit me again. Got back to the gym and a better diet and now back to a regular size/ weight 62kg give or take. It's surprising just how good your body can feel when refining your intake. Still have my choc (serious chohaholic) but my body doesn't need to eat so much!
