First motorcycle

Hi everyone. I was wondering what is a good first motorcycle? Not for off-roading or anything. I've searched a bit and a Ninja 250 seems to be the norm are these good one to start with? Also, I know I won't have a chance with any 600s for ages.

P.s: Sorry if it's in the wrong section.

Hi mate.

Depends what you want it for. There's a decent range of bikes to start off with.

If it's a sportsbike you can't really go wrong with the Kwak Ninja 250 or the 300. Honda do the 250r and Yamaha the R3

Hey,
My sister has a Ninja 250, had the chance to have a ride on it a couple of times. It's a very nice looking machine, light to handle & had I not know what a bigger machine feels like then I would be very happy with one!

The Ninja 250 is a great choice. I had one and what a bike. I loved every mile and it just ate them up. Downside I came from a CBR400RR so I knew what it felt like having more range (power, revs torque) so I quixly grew out of the 250. But I also test rode the CBR250R and the Ninja is a better feel and everything is just better!! Would be a good call however go out for test rides as there's a few out on the market at the moment

Depends on budget. I wouldn't focus on a particular model if it was me. I would short list a couple of models which meet your needs and then look for the best bike and best deal available.

There are lots of great choices for new riders now. I have seen quite a few Yamaha YZF125's about and they look good and make a great noise with a change of can. Very 'Moto3'.

With the benefit of hindsight I'd just go for something that I'd be happy to throw down the road!

^ All good points.

However....As a question, it's a bit; "how long's a length of string" IMHO Ms Callumatic.

It depends so much on you, your requirements, your drives & your tastes. To answer your question accurately I would need to know more about all of those.

Failing that, the best bike in the world is the 675 (obviously), however not everyone has suitable attributes to make it suitable for them. Many tend to choose 1k bikes to compensate, and are often very satisfied by the results.

Hth.

How about an old Bandit 600 with a 33bhp restrictor kit. You can take it off when you get bored and it will go like shit of a shovel!
