I see you know have to have all electrical devices charged up. British Airways won't let you on if you've got something with a dead battery.

Nice.

I assume that the airports are going to be offering free to use charging points.

It'll be interesting to see how this policy goes down when flights are delayed.

That sounds like real hassle to enforce.

I assume they will say put electric equipment in hold luggage to simplify things at a guess.

Flying next week so will remember that myself.

What about mobiles virtual impossible to have that fully charged as constantly in use

I think they need proof that it's working. So the battery doesn't have to be full but enough juice to operate it.

The new bomb (from what we're told) is designed to look like a battery for a laptop or mobile phone. But they need to assemble it on the plane for it to work. So it can't go off in the hold.

Blade - no idea. We've been given very little information but you have to presume that they've thought of that seeing as it's so obvious.

The US TSA have said:-

During the security examination, officers may also ask that owners power up some devices, including cell phones.

"Powerless devices will not be permitted onboard the aircraft. The traveller may also undergo additional screening."

So I presume when your hold luggage is xrayed and they see a mobile phone or other device they can call you to your bag and ask you to operate the device. It's not limited to hand luggage.

to be honest, if it's in your hand luggage it should have power anyway. Why would you have a carry on item that had no power?

If they want to attack us it will be virtually impossible to defend unfortunately as every threat cannot be spotted and eliminated in reality. Perhaps they even believe they are winning already causing so much disruption, expense, delay and fear.

It's so much like George Orwell's 1984 it's uncanny. Governments spying on everything we do because of an unidentified enemy.

Guess what? News laws being rushed in to allow the Police and other agencies the right to snoop on our mobile phones and internet use.

It's amazing how this new security threat arrived just a couple of days before.
