YouTube will remove music videos by artists such as Adele, Arctic Monkeys and Radiohead, because the independent labels to which they belong have refused to agree terms with the site.

Google, which owns YouTube, has been renegotiating contracts as it prepares to launch a music subscription service.

A spokesperson for the indie labels said YouTube was making a "grave error of commercial judgment".

YouTube said it was bringing "new revenue streams" to the music industry.

(facepalm)

Doesn't YouTube generate enough money as it is?

It won't, it'll simply change the way people browse. We've seen some massive sites disappear, YouTube could be one of them.

The internet is in a constant state of evolution and flux, new technologies and designs are always coming out.

The view of the internet in a year or so is going to be very different to what you see now. The full effects of the snooping charters and agencies has yet to show its full effect. Whether people have got anything to hide or not they don't want their personal communications monitored at all times. This will fundamentally change how the internet works IMO.

Sites will come and go, but those funded by organisations with big enough pockets (and in facebook's case stupid enough investors) will be around for some time to com.
