Took the Honda to work today. There's not been any road salt laid down for a while so I don't have to worry about the bike looking shit.

It started first time, despite getting a low battery warning

Pulled away, got the first junction, turned right. Came up to the second junction and the lever went dead, so I had to stall the bike and put the clutch cable back in at the engine. No idea why it jumped out.

Stiff cable.? -Used to get that on bicycles when I was at school (little while ago (smirk) ) : When the outer protective coating was damaged, and the inner steel was exposed it would rust making the cable movement stiff. When you then braked the cable would work, but when you released it could lift out of the lever rather than retract.
Obvs' your cable wont be rusty, but may be worth checking it's free movement.?

Everything looks brand new with the cable and the attachments. No issues before and no issues afterwards. I reckon I knocked it when it was cleaning it and it just came loose.

Done absolutely nothing lately, I was going to try and get out yesterday as the forecast wasn't too bad, obviously the rain didn't follow the forecast (facepalm) so looked at it and that was it, did some gardening instead.

Started it up.

Only for a couple of minutes to see if it would, fired up no problems, checked the lights, indicators and horn. All good.

Throttle was a little stiff though, if I wind the throttle on it doesn't immediately snap back like it should.
Since the Rizoma grips went on it's always been borderline, and I assume the inactivity over the winter hasn't helped.

Oh well, garage smells nice now!

If it doesnt snap back as it should, Itchy I would get it looked at asap, especially if riding pillion with your daughter. Not only is it potentially very dangerous to have a sticking throttle, I would imagine it's an MOT failure too.

Sounds like an issue with the aftermarket grip or their installation so shouldn't be a difficult fix.

The cable will snag inside the housing. You can lube it for a very temporary fix, or you have to sand the throttle-grip/housing-interface just a touch. The bolts holding everything together should be snug, but not tight.
Otherwise you'll end up in the middle of an intersection, stationary & redlining.
In front of a bus. (facepalm)

Nah it's good fun... Throttle used to stick on the vfr occasionally, only at full throttle mind... It focuses your mind in the task in hand I can tell you that, especially at 80+mph!

Kept forgetting about it though as it happened so infrequently.

It does return to the starting position, just a little slowly.

I've got time to tinker.

This isn't uncommon with after market grips. Take it apart and make sure that the cable is sitting correctly.

Not sure I actually needed the engine to get home tonight! Fecking, feck it's windy out there.

Glad I had the bike this morning though as the traffic was carnage. If it's like this tomorrow the cage might be used.

I felt like Mary Poppins on the way home. That wind was something else.

Humm. I think it was windier tonight, the bike was getting blown all over the road. Glad I wasn't on anything lighter! (Not often you say that about bikes)
