Re: The new improved fitness thread
Exactly! That's the reason I dropped 20kg off my squat to focus on form, I've since soared past my previous PB.
Fingers crossed the guy is in the gym today and I'll ask him for 5 minutes of his time - I'm probably going to film myself then watch it back to see if i'm doing it right.
Plan for tonight:
Deadlift
Cardio
Stretching

Lots of stretching tonight at taekwondo.
Sparring still knackers me out.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I did exactly as above - Deadlift, cardio, stretching.
No one was available that worked at the gym so I got some photos of good form and tried to match it as best I could.. I managed 3 sets of 8 100kg deadlift after working my way up to the weight. I feel good today, my core is more sore than my lower back which I'm particularly pleased about
Okay so I'm just going to put this out there - I'm as flexible as a brick. Seriously, I can't sit with a flat back against the wall and my legs straight out infront of me with toes pointing up; it genuinely hurts.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I'm not very flexible. We do stretching exercises at TKD and you've got adults lying there with their head next to an ankle and I'm struggling to get my hands there. It's something you have to work on but it does improve. Just make sure you don't stretch everyday.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
the class for my 4 year old was strict but friendly which is perfect because she needs a bit of discipline.I have done years of kickboxing and about a year of karate which I hated .From what I saw last week taekwondo is the best of both, just let him try it Rocket im sure he will make his own mind up

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Taekwondo is a fairly simple martial art to pick up, a few kicks and punches to start off with. It's designed so you learn it in stages with patterns becoming more complicated as you progress.
My son didn't like it at first but I pushed him a little bit and now he loves it.
It's really good for fitness as we do warm ups before we start and then do exercises during the class. It improves confidence and concentration.
How much more they want to do beyond the class is up to them. Alex does 2 lessons a week plus fight club (free sparring) on a Friday. In addition he enters competitions. We've got the English Championship this Sunday.

7 1/2 to 8 mile run last night, apparently the route was "undulating".
I'm starting to really enjoy running again now I can comfortably chat while running.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Cheeky 10k run round the village tonight, I used part of the race route and had forgotten quite how bad the fecking hill was
still averaged just over 9 min miles, so feeling good for reading half in 3 weeks.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
First time back in the gym for a while and I hit another PB for squats.
I did 2x my body weight for 2 reps. Form wasn't 100% but I managed it. 170kg
