Re: Brexit thread
But that’s exactly what the British Government is saying now. Not British and not rich then you are not welcome here, in their eyes.
It’s not a Britain that I want to be associated with.

Re: Brexit thread
They're saying that if you're not rich you're not welcome, or that if you're not willing & able to take care of yourself?? Or something else??

Re: Brexit thread
I won't mention anti vaxxers in France because I don't know any and they would not tell me if they were. It has no effect on my, I have had my jabs. The bureaucracy only affects certain things. When I imported my microlight here that was the end of annual permit to fly inspections, the end of annual pilot medicals and no more flying proficiency checks. When I imported my new BMW R1250RS last year it was a very simple procedure on the internet through ANTS. Motorbikes don't have MOTs either. Not that much bureaucracy then.C00kiemonster wrote:France is different, not any better than the UK to live overall.StMarks wrote: I don't think many of us on here would dispute that France is a wonderful place to live. In the unlikely event that you dispute that fact, you could ask Cookiemonster or BobT.
Bob doesn't mention the terrible levels of anti vaxxers in France, the bureaucracy, the rampant racism, expensive cost of living now or social discontent in the country.
I see a lot of UK bashers over here who live in an expat bubble with their expat mates. It makes them feel better about moving from the UK and helps them boost their own self esteem while being smug at people who at least half of them didn't vote for brexit. It's quite sad and unnecessary.
I for one live over here for now because it suits and I've been achieving what I want to, however it's no paradise, just different values and cheaper wine.
I for one avoid a lot of expats like the plague as they generally do the same old thing week in week out, which is sad.
The UK has its issues for sure, but so does France and any other country, it's just what suits different people.
I don't live in an expat area and after all this time have only French friends but have met another British biker who lives about 70 km away.
I have lived in many places in the UK, Germany and France and choose the place that suits me.
I don't live here because it's cheap, some things are and some things aren't, but I can afford to buy what I want so am very different to the many expats who scrimp and save every centime and run little gite businesses to rip off other brits.
I did not vote in the referendum as I was not allowed, despite serving queen and country for all of my life.
I do not avoid anyone like the plague, life is too short to exclude any group of people, and there are not many around here anyway.

Re: Brexit thread
Thats no problem - they will just extend out the deadline as they do with everything else.

Why these people are not being prosecuted is beyond me.

Re: Brexit thread
Sky Italia, the biggest Motogp broadcaster will not be bringing their full team to Silverstone MotoGp due to the costs involved, carnet etc.
They now consider it a flyaway event like Philiip Island etc according to Mat Oxley.

Brexiteers must be so happy that Brexit has all these benefits.

But it all gets blamed on Covid - so convenient.

Re: Brexit thread
At the risk of sounding repetitive, yes this symptom is due to the Brexshit decision,,,C00kiemonster wrote:Fantastic. A clear unarguable brexit issue.
It's all covid though Innit ........
,, however
in the same way as the channel migrants, imo this problem is not caused by Brexshit.:
There are plenty of people in our population who are perfectly capable of doing this. The reason that these roles are performed by migrant workforces from Romania, Bulgaria etc,, is simply because in their homelands life is very hard if they do not work. Here however there is no requirement for people to work, whether they choose to do so or not our nanny-state affords them a warm comfortable easy environment. This welfare support, whilst entirely well intended, seems to be a poisoned chalice ?

Re: Brexit thread
A lot of people have managed for years without working, this current Government have made the problem even worse by poorly thought out and poorly directed covid financial support.
Even we have neighbours who seem not to work much if at all but have a BMW 6 series and LR Discovery on the drive and have just spent over £5k on a summer house for their garden.
