Yeah, it's going to be a bit of a shock to the system. On the flip side though it should be easier than dealing with an hour plus commute on the m4 sat in traffic.

Good luck Nutz hope it works out mate.
Commuting on a train, beer in hand watching a film on your ipad is a lot easier than driving a metal box in grid lock traffic.
Good luck pal.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Her birthstone is sapphire, so I've got some dark blue sapphire earrings and a pendant, all set in white gold, as her main present.
Then there are other bits and pieces for her as well so she's got a few presents to open.
We're having a party for her on the Saturdays so I've chucked some money behind the bar.
Should be good.
At least she won't be able to complain when I come home with a new motorbike ...........

Re: What are you doing today ??
Showing my wife how much I love her by letting her drag me around Ikea on a bank holiday f***ing weekend.
Judging by people's driving ability in the surrounding area, their tendency to loiter at bottleneck points throughout the store and their questionable hygiene (how can so many honking reesty people squeeze into one building?), I think I proved I love her very much indeed!!!
With minimal swearing, surprisingly!

Re: What are you doing today ??
Having a rest day today, but yesterday we headed for Thetford Chase (forest) and had a bit of a walk, it was absolutely jam packed with cars and people but very few actually making the effort to walk or cycle any distance. However, we made the most of it and walked the thick end of 9 miles during our visit, it was glorious weather and made for a very enjoyable afternoon, especially with an ice cream as a reward at the end of it.
We did realise that we need to do this more as a family - Mrs Gee and Mini Gee particularly have very little exercise on a daily basis and the restorative effect of being in a forest does wonders for a bit of stress, so we've bought a years pass for the car park there, if I've paid for it it'll prompt us to get into the forest at least once a month, I'm really looking forward to an Autumn/winter walk as well, there's something special about coming home to a pre-prepared hot meal after a cold day out walking. Toasty!

Our working lives have turned the majority into lazy sloths when it comes to exercise.Deegee wrote:Having a rest day today, but yesterday we headed for Thetford Chase (forest) and had a bit of a walk, it was absolutely jam packed with cars and people but very few actually making the effort to walk or cycle any distance. On Holiday in Italy we walked an average of 3.5 miles per day and still felt like we were relaxed. We do nothing like that at home.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Bit of a chilled out day today. Went to the garden centre this morning then out for a walk with the family to pick some black berries.
This afternoon was gardening and washing the car.

I'm enjoying the good weather we've been having

2nd to last night shift of the swing. Was only a 2 week swing this time (we do a short shift rotation once a year) but it seems the mindset as you get closer to the end isn't any different to a 3 weeker, you just want out!
Looking forward to the 5 week break and some rides on the Multi
(amongst other things
)

Been up to Burton to interview a couple of witnesses.
I miss those roads. I need to head back on the bike.

Lying awake at 4am. Switching off night shift. Was up for just on 30 hrs with my last shift and travelling home and then only slept for 6hr once I got to bed.
