10k in 56 mins yesterday, 5 mile recovery run tonight.

Started finding some real pace now. I can hold a 5:15/km pace for 3-4 km on the flat.

One more 5 mile run on Thursday before the half on Sunday.

Impressive speed.

Taekowndo on a Monday. Sparring kills me, it's so tiring.

A day of new PBs today during my normal weights session.

Squats - 117.5kg for 3 sets of 5 reps.
Bench Press - 92.5kg for 3 sets of 5 reps.
Cleans - 75kg for 5 sets of 3.
Chin ups - maxed out at 12 reps, then 7, then 5.

Still not massive numbers, but a decent improvement nonetheless.

Show off :P

I'm still too scared to see what I can squat, so I tend to go light.

Legs tonight.. Yuck.

Not massive numbers? I couldn't even do 1 rep at that bench press weight!

So today was the day all the training was for, race day.

13.1 miles of Basingstoke's hilliest countryside. It was a hard race as it was quite warm today, but I was happy enough with 2:08 (unofficial time)

Only downside of the day is I might have buggered my ankle.

I've started cycling again again my 1st love,I did two hours Saturday and also the week before.
I've dropped 4 pounds which is encouraging ,tomorrow I will do my normal bench press routine in the shed :)

Good result Jon (y) sorry to hear about the ankle, hopefully it's nothing major and will come good soon.

Try not to do what I did and go off the boil, I'm not looking forward to having to regain all that speed I had worked up too.

Cheers mate.

The plan is to have a week off and the get straight back into training. There is a planned cross country event in January, and then Reading half early next year.

The pain in the ankle has cleaned up a bit today, but has left the worst of the pain at the joint rather than surrounding muscle. Going to give it another couple of days and if it's so bad then of to the doctor.

I've gained 10kg in weight over the past 2yrs... any words of advice to shift it. Please send them this way. And cake... I mean, no cake! I hate cake!

I've been out running twice daily at least 3 times a week plus two hard circuits sessions and now back into cycling at the weekends that kayak marathons have finished.... I'm trying hard to shift the wobble... why won't it just wobble-off!?!?

FYI giving up teaching meant I also stopped drinking half a bottle of wine every night... so surely the weight should fall off!!???

Ro, is your weight gained not muscle seeing as you're doing so much exercise?

I was sparring at Taekwondo last night against a black belt and managed to score a few points.

Now my instructor wants me to go for the British championships next year for my belt :( He says most of the adults at lower belts tend to be punchers but I use my legs for defence and attack so I should have an advantage.

I'm going to get my head kicked in.

Probably, but you may be surprised. I'm sure he thinks you have some chance because you are representing his school.

At the very least the post bout selfies will give us all a laugh (lol)

Ive always been a skinny ****.

All of a sudden I can't see my nob when having a waz. Some weird wobbly poor replica of a stomach is blocking my view. Age it seems is catching me up.

So I've been getting up before work and doing a 30 day ab app thing. Even though I'm on holiday, I've kept it going. Today was 65 sit-ups, 85 crunches, 45 leg rises and 55 second plank. I've also been doing a ppushup app. And the odd 3 mile cross country run.

Hopefully I'll be able to see where I am pissing soon.

Well that's me out of the "running" for a few weeks. Saw the doc today and the ankle pain is nothing too serious, but it is enough. Apparently the problem lies with the tendons coming down to the ankle and apparently they need 4-6 weeks rest minimum.

Looks like I'm headed back to the gym for some cross training.

:(

That's bad news. You were doing so well. It shouldn't take you too long to get back into it once you're fit again.

Upped it in the gym, running and doing HIIT sessions twice a week... body hurts every morning, it's a struggle to drag myself out to run at 6.30am but I'm sticking at it!!! That and Ive started protein shakes... I might be single soon if I do this for too long. I smell.

BUT I'm pretty sure I can feel more muscle under the squishy bits now :D
