I used to hate the look of the 749/999. Now i quite like them they should have done a single sided swingarm version though.
"80mph" sorry officer I possibly could not have done that I'm no Valentino Rossi.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Put the ZX10R up for sale on the Kawasaki forum I found it on. It still needs the fairings patched, but as I'm severely time poor when home, I've decided it's better in the long run to let it go cheaper and someone else can fix it.

How cheap is cheap, Mick?. Still have my CBR600FX to sell if you are interested.kingfixer wrote:Having got her originally as 50/50 road/ track bike, and after spending a bit of money on her to get her right I'm almost loathesome to take her on track as I would be gutted if I ruined it![]()
So I have found myself looking at cheap track bikes so that I wouldn't be bothered if I crashedand just let the 999 grow old gracefully

I think love it or loath it, the 999 is one of the most iconic bike designs of the last 20-30 years....maybe more.
It was only the price that put me off them and turned me towards my first Triumph (same dealer). Having said that, the 749 was just a sheer disappointment and a mistake to buy, but it DID track like a fecking missile.....just point and shoot. But you had to be carrying your speed or it just ran out of steam.
Or operator-talent..../

2001 CBR600 FX, first of the FI bikes. Standard wheels with Supercorsas plus wets on wheels.Blade wrote:What spec is the six Duke ?
Its not road legal but I have a V5, though i have never bothered updating it into my name. The bike was written off in an accident.
Forks allegedly have Ohlins internals though i have never taken them apart to confirm and it has a race shock though at the moment i cannot remember the name. I do have paperwork showing it was serviced just before i bought it.
The bike was raced at the Manx GP in the early 2000s and i have a video of it.
I will search out the photos if anyone is interested.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Today had a blat around some local roads up to Theale, Pangbourne and Wantage. Was exactly what I needed. When getting up onto the hills though it was covered with low cloud. I had to ride with my visor open and at one point a bicycle was cycling up to me and I didn't even see it until he was a few meters in front of me, I was taking it nice and steady when in the cloud as it was blinking thick.
Also at one point I was half way into a bend and the front end felt like it slipped...the road was greasy and it shat me right up!! Unsure what I felt, maybe a drain cover, maybe a bit of dirt on the ground, thing that got me was I was at that point giving it a little bit as I felt pretty planted before!!
Anyway in total 107 miles haven't been out for the past 2 weeks so I needed this!!

Treated her to some new Samco Silicone Coolant Hoses in snazzy red
The original ones are 13 year old now so could do with replacing.
Only problem is 4-6 week lead time.

I take it you'll fit those yourself? It looks like it'll be a time consuming job but it's worth it, very high end quality kit.

thought I better have a service as horrible grinding noise from the back. Think my rear brake is seized and has worn through again. The rear disc looks grooved.
