Froze my butt off today at Colnbrook, and I get to do it all again tomorrow but in Gloucester. I've only got to get up at 4am.

Waiting to catch a helicopter. Then a plane.
Then first drinks of the year in the qantas lounge
Then another plane, then a hotel
Then tomorrow another plane and a two hour taxi ride, then I'll be home.
Still beats my old commute. I can spend the second half of it half cut

Work. Chasing down customers to ask whether their incredibly desperate, immediate needs are actually desperate or immediate.

Last night had a hair cut as it was getting fair too long and making me itch. Then took my car to a bodywork garage because I had a tanker hit into it while at work. Took fecking ages fighting the company, but they paid up in the end! Today should be picking it up and should look as good as new again [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH]

I've been in Leicester all day with my son taking him to his University interview at de Montfort.
Fingers crossed he gets the offer he wants.

Wasn't complaining about it mate, hence the last line, just posting in the theme of the thread title I thought.D6 wrote:Work just round the corner from home thenkiwikrasher wrote: Still beats my old commute. I can spend the second half of it half cut
I only do it 14 times a year and I still spend less time commuting overall than I did driving to the refinery for 7 yrs.

Its just crazy to me how long it takes you to finally get home. Must be big distances. Where is your rig?

I used to be able to fly Darwin-Sydney direct but Qantas moved there flight forward and it's boarding as I land so miss it by a matter of 20 mins as I have to get through customs

Oh that's a bummer.kiwikrasher wrote:About 520km north west of Darwin. It's 3,500 km in a straight line but I back track to Timor Leste in the heli then pretty much fly back over the platform on a civil airline to Darwin.

How far/long is that chopper flight? That looks a big distance. I don't know what range a chopper has. Does it refuel on the rig or do it all on one tank?

Re: What are you doing today ??
It's 250km / 1 hr 20 min flight. Does it on one fuel load. We do have refueling facilities On board though if need be.
I've done the platform to Darwin direct in the heli before, there were some security concerns in Timor at the time. That was 2.5 hrs/520 km.
