The forks arrived today and they fit in the yokes :-) I got a the front wheel spindle and the calipers. The calipers need so attention so they are stripped and in the ultrasonic.

I tried the front wheel and to my amazement the front wheel spindle fits like a glove it needs a bit of adjustment with the spacers but I'm just lucky as i thought i would be changing bearings and messing with the spindle.

Today i took the front end down to a friend who happens to be an engineer. I measured the gap between the bearing and the fork leg when the spindle was seated and tight. Then worked out what need to be done. The bst wheels have spacers in the bearings so after working out how much needed to taken off one side and added to the other i tapped out the spacers and handed them to my friend who is going to turn one down and either make a new spacer for the other side or make that one larger :-).

Bad day spent the last week prepping and painting the calipers that came with the front forks for the Gsxr. Got them looking decent so started taking the masking tape off and it rips the paint off as well. Its not bitten into the metal and is pealing off :-( so got to start again.

Well, it wouldn't be much of a project if everything went off without a hitch!

Did you 'bed' the paint?? You have to spray a VERY light film of paint around the edges of the tape and let it dry thoroughly before doing a 'proper' lay of paint.

Are the calipers peened??

It was the paint not bonding on to the calipers these was some oxidization on the alloy so I'm guess this would not allow the paint to bond. Im having some bits powder coated so ill have these done as well as it will be a lot more durable finish.

Got loads of bits in the post while i was away. Body work , pistons and bits for top end rebuild and a nice set of clipons.

Got the other spacer from my mate yesterday. I have already stripped the frame and swingarm ready for it being blasted and reconditioned. Been sanding it down trying to get rid of any bad marks.

These came through the post today. Pleased with them as they were pretty cheap second hand.

Still got to get the shock sorted waiting for someone to come back from holiday.

Bearings , cables, hose's and gaskets. Loads of stainless bolts. Want to get to a rolling chassis first then i can see were i am with bits.

Did you try the Irish chap I suggested he did me an absolute mega deal on my shock for the Blade ?

Paid 500 for a 3 way adjustable race shock and all the competition were north of a grand.

Custom made and half the price of Maxton, ktech or Ohlins but identical quality and performance.
