Re: What are you doing today ??

I've just fitted a big screen in my office and a corner settee, now every day is big screen porno day!
Also quite good for watching Friday practice while I work.

Windows 8 (and8.1) is useless IMO. Never seen windows so badly done.Kwacky wrote:A kid and wife free night. I should have been going to the gym but my PT swapped for tomorrow night.
I should be playing with my new laptop but Windows8 is spending all night trying to sort itself out.

I have a brand new laptop (well, I got it in the new year sales) with it, and I'm still using this one because I hate the operating system so much.!

Try installing Classic Shell. Massive improvement.StMarks wrote:+1C00kiemonster wrote:..Windows 8 (and8.1) is useless IMO. Never seen windows so badly done.

I have. It helps but the OS is very buggy and seems to slow down very easily.
I rarely use a laptop now, mainly tablets unless I have to.

Today the boiler gets its annual service (not a euphemism), kitchen gets a second coat of paint, bathroom gets an anti-mould treatment, study bedroom gets the backing paper steamed off ready for paint and my nails get a protective gel coat (side effect of the steroids is they're making my nails shatter if I knock them....which I'm doing all the time as I do the house up). Quiet day all told!

Personally I thought the evil twins Millennium & Vista and their spawn MS Works (Oxymoron) had that distinction , however I have yet to be tortured by W8, so you may be right. Fingers crossed I stay blissfully unaware.C00kiemonster wrote:Windows 8 (and8.1) is useless IMO. Never seen windows so badly done.

Windows 2000 Professional for the win.
I didn't mind XP.
Vista was vile.

XP and 7 were the most reliable for me and I still run a virtual version of 7 in IOS. I gave my copy of 8 away.

I've got 8.1 on my laptop and I get on OK with it - the easy zoom facility is a boon for me with my eyes the way they are at the moment.

Brought a new driver (golf related) and went up the range
A little rusty but soon got in to the 'swing' of things
Went out early playing poker ... had no luck all night

Re: What are you doing today ??
Daughter came home from hospital on weds, they were initially concerend about kidney or spleen damage but got the all clear and was released, saw her for about 5 mins and then she was off again to her mates, been there ever since, the police have been in touch to say our phone numbers are to be given special priority if we ring them after the threats made towards the family and me mums still in hospital with Pneunimia but apparently due to be released later today ( Fri ) I'm exhausted, stressed, totally fed up and cant wair for a bit of good news for a change, the bastard who attacked her is still in hospital after a failed suicide attempt and the most upsetting thing is that she wont condemn him despite him doing this for 5th time, dont know my daughter anymore, she's like a stranger to me, life eh ?

There's a phrase involving a barrel of tits and thumb sucking here.
Nevertheless I'm glad your mum and daughter are on the mend, mate.

Re: What are you doing today ??
My mum married a guy who liked to hit women. He was a nasty piece of work. Even though he tried to kill her (luckily I came home and managed to get some help) she still loved him and had him back. He tried to kill himself. I've never prayed so hard in my life. Thanksfully my prayers were answered and after a couple of days he passed away.
I have no idea what sort of hold these men have over women, but you'll always hear them say "it's because he loves me".
