Stephen Kevin Bannon (born November 27, 1953) is an American media executive, political figure, former investment banker, and the former executive chairman of Breitbart News. He served as White House Chief Strategistin the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump during the first seven months of Trump's term.[2][3]
Bannon was an officer in the United States Navy for seven years in the late 1970s and early 1980s. After his military service, he worked at Goldman Sachs as an investment banker, and left as vice president. In 1993, he became acting director of the research project Biosphere 2. In the 1990s, he became an executive producer in Hollywood, and produced 18 films between 1991 and 2016. In 2007, he co-founded Breitbart News, a claimed far-right website which he described in 2016 as "the platform for the alt-right".
In August 2016, Bannon was named the chief executive officer of Trump's 2016 presidential bid.[21][22] Appointed Chief Strategist in the Trump administration, he left this position on August 18, 2017 and rejoined Breitbart. After leaving the White House, Bannon opposed the establishment Republican party and supported insurgent candidates in Republican primaries. After Roy Moore, supported by Bannon, lost the 2017 United States Senate election in Alabama, Bannon's reputation as a political strategist was questioned.[23][24] In January 2018, Bannon was disavowed by Trump for critical comments reported in the book Fire and Fury[25] and left Breitbart.
After leaving the White House, Bannon has campaigned and helped various European political movements. These include France's National Front,[26] Hungary's Fidesz,[27] Alternative for Germany,[28] the Sweden Democrats,[29] the Dutch Party for Freedom,[30] the Italian Northern League,[31] the Freedom Party of Austria,[32] the Swiss People's Party,[33] and the pan-European identitarian movement.[34] Bannon believes that the aforementioned movements, along with Japan’s Shinzo Abe, India’s Narendra Modi, Russia's Vladimir Putin, China's Xi Jinping, and America's Donald Trump, as well as similar leaders in Egypt, the Philippines, Poland, and South Korea, are part of a global shift towards nationalism.[35]
A self-described economic nationalist, Bannon advocates for reductions in immigration,[36] restrictions on free trade with China and Mexico,[37][38] and an increased federal income tax for those earning incomes of over $5 million a year.[39] Bannon is a skeptic of military intervention abroad and has opposed proposals for the expansion of U.S. involvement in Afghanistan,[40] Syria,[41] and Venezuela.[42] He has been described by some as a white nationalist but rejects the description.[43] According to conservative commentator David French, Bannon has "done more than any other person to introduce the ... alt-right into mainstream American life"

Re: Mrs Trump
Shameful.
So young children should suffer as a result of their parents actions? What sort of justice system is that?

The parents have committed a crime, the children have not. It's as simple as that....they simply can't be held in the same place.
Perhaps Jorge & Maria should've thought of that beforehand.....

It's immoral and goes against fundamental human rights, however you look at it.

The US just pulled out of the Human Rights Council and Fox News are calling the migrant camps “summer camps” and the kids “child actors”

Re: Mrs Trump
Harsh truth - Nobody cares about human rights , in the right circumstances anything is permissible by any nation , USA have been ignoring it for nearly 30 years - Abu Ghraib , Guantanamo , their dealings with pretty much the entire continent of south America and the Middle East . I don't have any evidence but I doubt that we or any other nation is any better .

Re: Mrs Trump
I disagree, we need to shine a light on it. Most Americans are decent people.

Re: Mrs Trump
You can disagree until you are blue in the face Monty , a few days and it will be out of the media and the public eye and things will continue as usual , how long have we known about abuses and failed to make changes , Israel , Iraq , Saudi Arabia , Yemen , North Korea , Pakistan all guilty of human rights abuse for as long as I can remember , has anything changed since we became aware of them ?

I'm going to disagree with that. When European countries share a discourse with one another they do it on equal terms.
When the US does it, it varies from a cop-on-a-street-corner mentality to full-on bull-in-a-china-shop clumsiness.
To many, if not most Americans, we're not dealing with Britain, France, or Italy etc. - it's just "Europe".
