Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
A mate of mine has had a letter asking for volunteers to take 8 weeks unpaid leave. The letter warns of potential job losses as well as reduced hours for other staff.

There is going to be a number of companies that will abuse this to cut their workforce.

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
BiL is a firefighter at the airport and HR have told him is job ar risk. Stupidly short sighted as if they get rid of all the trained fire fighters what will they do in a few weeks when it's all blown over and they need fire fighters at the airport again.
Also as regular crews have members phone in sick they will need the extra capacity but as he is employed by the airport directly they dont seem to get his skills will be needed elsewhere by local authority fire crews

Who has a two-month reserve of cash??
They're asking rather a lot, TBH. Volunteers will be hard to come by, methinks.

Apparently @ 10,000 troops are preparing for mobilization in order to assist during the "breakdown of society"
Doesn't say whose side of the breakdown they'll be, unfortunately.

It's amazing how many people know someone in the army
There's a video doing the rounds of army vehicles being transported on the Motorway. Like that's never happened before.

Me doth sense a dose of skepticism, perhaps???
I'm watching Trump on TV at the minute. Have to say, he seems to approaching things...at least in this briefing...a bit better than I would normally give him credit for.

Fwiw I'm still getting over my disappointment that he didn't contract Covid-19 from the Brazilian official.

The value of the pound is now horrible. My cost of living went up 10% overnight and if it sustains this rate then prices in the UK will shoot up.

Feck, we’re nearly at parity, that’s not happened since Christmas 2008!C00kiemonster wrote:The value of the pound is now horrible. My cost of living went up 10% overnight and if it sustains this rate then prices in the UK will shoot up.
