Running like a complete nutter. Didn't quite make my 2 hour target, finished a minute or two over the 2 hours (waiting for the official time) but really happy si beat my personal best by over 9 minutes.

My mate and me waiting at the start line, and the queue of runners in front and behind.
It's quite an event.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Well done, Jon. Practice is the only way to improve as I have found out. I bet if you keep running with the club you joined you will easily knock 10 mins off that in future.
I did a 1 hr 55 mins today which i was pretty pleased with. To make any further improvement i think i would need to join a running club too but i just don't think I have enough spare time to justify joining one. The last mile today was a killer.
I think i might try a few 10k runs this spring and summer.

Re: What are you doing today ??
I saw your time on FB, that's a great time. I'm considering the 5 mile recovery run tomorrow, will see how I go through the day.
But, I'm strongly considering Basingstoke half which is in October. Might as well keep the momentum going.

Legal update training.
I stayed awake, which means I've done better than previous sessions.

I spent most of the day complaining loudly when ever anyone asked me to do something than involved getting up from my chair..

Yep, too tired and my legs really aren't up to it... 5/6 miles "Indian File" for Wednesday's run, so I'll save my energy for that..kiwikrasher wrote:So the recovery run got shelved I take it??

Re: What are you doing today ??
I know that feeling. You finish the run and that day you're full of enthusiasm, planning further runs etc, next day you're in a world of hurt. I usually don't run for about two months

Re: What are you doing today ??
I don't know about running today, its a struggle to get up and down the stairs if i sit for more than 10 minutes
The last mile yesterday was a killer, i just seemed to run out of energy. Not had that before on the previous half marathons.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Just got back from my biomechanical exam and assessment. When you see in a photo how your legs stand and then how they SHOULD stand, its a bit of an eye opener.
She seems to think it might well take a while to get used to the orthotics she is having made up and having seen what she is trying to correct, its no wonder.

Re: What are you doing today ??
I would like to keep the running up and if possible push a little further but my knees wont allow me to do that ( get knee pain if I consistently push the mileage above 7 miles) and i'm not getting any younger.
She watched me walking up and down barefoot for about 10 minutes, did some measurements ( it seems one leg is marginally longer than the other), told me my right shoulder is an inch lower than the left, and took some photos of my lower leg from behind as they are and how they should be. The difference is massive. Then she took some plaster casts to get some orthotics made up to sit in my shoes and adjust the angle of my foot and ankle.
If only we all had this done as kids there would probably be no need for hip and knee replacements later in life.
