????? Don't know? It's the right way up on my screen?
Little bit of an eventful start as he dropped the triumph getting it out the drive (facepalm), thought his stand was down, didn't check! & thump! Broke the left mirror off & bent the gear lever! :?
I think I'd of been sulking for weeks if I had done that to my bike, but he was very calm about it & we carried on out for the ride! (After straightening the gear lever!)

Been out since 9am met up with Mick, and got in at 6.30pm (stayed out and did a little detour when I left you mate ha ha ha....) Cream crackered indeed |-)

Great days riding though... So pleased I was on two wheels and not 4, the amount of jams out today would have done my nut in!

I love my bike (h) :P

After spending the morning and early afternoon with the Spudlets, managed to get out around 3:30'ish
Bro-in-Law has had a new set of boots on his Gixxer750, Metzeler R77's no less (y) so he wanted to scrub those in a little.

Ended up at the café in Bridgenorth for a cuppa and a chat with other likeminded adults before we headed back

for the record, I think he likes the R77's but then again he has just come of BT016's :x

I hear a lot of good things about the m7rr but what I can't get me head round is how heavily treaded the front tyre is for such a sporting tyre.

Very much look forward to hearing how rocket rates them on his gixer.

I thought that about my Dunlop RoadSmarts

Roadsmart is not really a sports tyre though Spudda, its a road orientated sports touring tyre. Dunlop's comparable fast road tyre to the m7rr is the sportsmart.

Reading through the M7's blurb, a lot of time was spent optimising the tread pattern to get the balance between clearing water in the rain while still having as much rubber on the road as possible.

They are a more road focused tyre, and also focused towards riding in mixed weather conditions. Most other super sports tyres look to be biased towards track and perfect weather. IMO.

Very cold and foggy ride into work this morning. On the plus side the roads were pretty empty.

I wouldn't personally class the m7 as super sporty though Nutz and that's my question really. How sporty are they ?

I know they focus on mixed conditions and predominantly wet conditions but a lot of reviews say they have plenty of grip which I didn't really understand as they have increased the land to sea ratio by about 20% from the m5 and I didn't personally find the m5 very sporty.

Looking for a good reworld appraisal of them tbh. I very much want to here how Rocket rates them and would value his input as he rides the same roads at a similar pace on a similar bike to me.

Cheers mate. I really appreciate that you don't rate my abilities on a sports bike, and also aren't interested in my views on the tyre. I mean I've only used them for a whole year in all conditions on a litre bike, and that includes a couple of track days.

What would I know...

If you want a sticky tyre for dry weather then stick with what you know and like.

I ride all year round so I need something that can deal with the cold and wet British roads as well as the occasional track day, and for that they're ideal. I certainly wouldn't want Racetecs on there at present with the roads being so cold and damp.

Sorry Nutz I didn't realise you had them and from your opening comment I thought you were explaining the sales blurb.

So how do you rate there dry weather grip ? I would be particularly interested to hear how quick they turn in and what the drive is like coming out of a corner.

Kwacky the main reason for considering them is I need something that will give reasonable mileage but I want decent dry grip as a priority as I don't ride all year or when wet really. A quick warm up time would be a bonus. I know I know I want my Cake and eat it (blush)

Tyres are subjective. Go to any motorbike forum and check out the tyre threads. The SX forum has a 15 page rant going at present about the best tyres for our bikes. That's the same bike we all ride, but there are loads of differing opinions.

None of us can tell you if a tyre is right for your bike, the way it's set up, the way you ride, the feedback you're looking for and numerous other factors.

Some people will stick with what they know and like, or they can risk it and try something new.

I spent quite a bit of time discussing tyres on the forum when I was looking to change. I ended up getting the M7's imported from europe as the UK stock wasn't available in the sizes I wanted. I've also discussed at length with Kwacky and others on here about the handling characteristics of the tyre.

The shortened version is, they have enough grip to keep an RSV glued to the road when being manhandled by the ham fisted lump that sits on top of it. With regards to turn in, as the RSV is a heavy old beast compared to modern machines I opted for a slightly taller tyre than standard to aid turn in off the top but to also give a slightly larger contact area while turning. I have no problem keeping pace with much more modern machines in the twisties. As for the drive out of corners, I had complimentary remarks from one of the no limits instructors about how quickly the bike lept out of corners and how it was keeping him on his toes ;)

I can do all of that and still commute, pootle, and have some serious fun in the wet..

Point taken Kwacky.

I will see what Nutz comes back as would value his insight (I didn't know he had m7) but without him being offended I very much want to also hear Rockets review.

His bike has similar power, he is similar pace and I know he uses the same.local roads as me so lots of comparable, genuine real world info to share.
