Haha mention my name to Neil he may run a mile lol. Kind of know him was at his wedding a few weeks ago. Hes a good guy who know his onions designed his own 853 conversion and it was very good takes a lot of pride in his work and it shows with the results.
"80mph" sorry officer I possibly could not have done that I'm no Valentino Rossi.

Its epic already but only works at full chat. Would have loved to take it to the IOM this weekend but it would have been a pig anywhere other than the mountain. I'm hoping Neil can improve that aspect of it.Blade wrote:Its your dream bike mate it need to be right and for you to fully enjoy it,

I'm not intending to spoil what it has. Just hoping to make it better still.

Yeah I know mate. Meant no worries you can't take to the iom. The improvements to fuelling at cornerspeed sound a good idea pal

Off to Cornerspeed this morning to see if we can get the bike to tick over better.

Runs better low down and settings were out but still have the stalling issue. Also the sprag clutch is on the way out.

Re: Ducati 748 - Road to track/road
If it's still stalling what's the fix? Higher idle speed perhaps?
Spray clutch failure seems a bit premature considering the hours/starts its had, is it up to the higher compression and possible advanced timing of the bigger engine?

Sounds like a worth while trip up to corner speed and good to hear of their recommendation.
Hope the stalling issues gets resolved.

Re: Ducati 748 - Road to track/road
About £300 in parts (if it needs all 3 parts) and a couple of hours labour. Quite tempted to have a go myself but may let Cornerspeed do it, watch and learn how to do it next time. The compression of the engine may mean that it becomes a service part (or the bearing itself anyway).

It would be an interesting bit of spannering - its one of the few things i've not done is clutch.duke63 wrote:About £300 in parts (if it needs all 3 parts) and a couple of hours labour. Its not too bad then, but you could do without the cost i guess.

Re: Ducati 748 - Road to track/road
There is a video here. Its a relatively simple job. I just need to work out all the tricks and things to look out for.C00kiemonster wrote:It would be an interesting bit of spannering - its one of the few things i've not done is clutch.duke63 wrote:About £300 in parts (if it needs all 3 parts) and a couple of hours labour. If i do it myself i could always change just the bearing very year to avoid the whole thing needing replacing. A bearing is about £60 at JHP.
Will keep me busy over the winter months.

Re: Ducati 748 - Road to track/road
So weight loss:
One new lithium battery. The current battery is over 5 years old (i think it might even be 7, it was replaced after that IOM trip).
Old battery weighs:
in kilos 6.2kg New battery weighs:
in grams 995grams
I couldn't even weight them on the same scales due to the weight difference. One didn't register on one set as it was too light, the other didn't register on the other as it was too heavy.
So that over 5kg of weight loss for £130 spent on what is a required part anyway. I wonder how much spent on carbon and titanium would be required for a similar weight loss.
And side by side.

Re: Ducati 748 - Road to track/road
They do seem like the obvious choice these days don't they Duke63. What is the expected lifespan compared to your 7yo Mottobatt..?
I trust they've found a resolution for their reputation to self-ignite.??

Shan't ask what sideline you have that necessitates you having a scale for weighing out small amounts of grams, but I quite understand how expensive Ducati ownership & maintenance is. I suppose it has to be paid for somehow.duke63 wrote:I couldn't even weigh them on the same scales.....

Re: Ducati 748 - Road to track/road
I've no idea on the lifespan but it comes with a 3 year warranty which sounds like they have faith in their product.
