Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
No official info atm, just messages from a few guys out there.Kwacky wrote:How has that happened?
A Timorese trainee tested positive. Timor were suffering from a major outbreak and we’d stopped taking them offshore. Seems they’ve started again.
The person would’ve gone through pre quarantine and testing. We then test again first day offshore. They’ve gone positive on that one. They were immediately removed by medivac and all crew offshore tested.
Still awaiting official correspondence from the company.

It seems from many reports that the vaccines don't seem to prevent illness from the delta variant.
They do prevent serious illness however.

One of the clusters here in Sydney was a kids birthday party. Everyone at the party contracted the delta variant of the virus (24 people) but the 6 people there who were vaccinated were the only ones not to be infected.

My wife and I are both doubled up on vaccine. We've not caught it from our son (so far). We're testing every day.

Sam and I have both had hints of symptoms, so I guess the vaccine has done its job.

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
While Australia was one of the leaders in lockdowns and control of the virus initially, we are lagging in vaccine roll out.
I’ve only been eligible in the last week as they roll it out by age, but because of the required time frame between shots I can’t do it till I get back from this next trip.
Jess as a front line worker (Assistant nurse) has been eligible, has registered, and has been on a waiting list for over 3 weeks.
We have only fully vaccinated 5% of the population

Didnt they withdraw funding for their own Aussie vaccine as they locked down so well and didnt want to spend the money?
Very short sighted sadly.

Sadly closing borders is now only ever putting off the inevitable.
That should have been done in Jan and Feb last year but once the virus is everywhere, closing borders does very little except buy a little time.

That and they heavily invested in Astra Zeneca which now is not recommended for under 60. So we only have Pfizer and in limited amounts.
But this week the govt. gave GP immunity from responsibility to adverse reactions to the Astra Zeneca fir under 60’s if they choice to take it.
Smacks of a govt. with an abundance of the wrong vaccine and trying to recover costs.

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?

If this translates into hospitalisations we are in deep shit.
Meanwhile the idiots in charge cannot even prevent themselves from getting it.

Maybe they will stop voting for the idiot now they know he was quite happy to let them die.
Though i was never in any doubt that he should not have even been allowed to stand for PM from his past, surely now people will wake up to the reality of having a nasty fool in charge.

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
On the back of their Health Secretary (who has been fully vaccinated ) becoming ill with Cv19, they decide that it's going to be fine for critical workers to ignore notifications to isolate when they have contact with confirmed cases.duke63 wrote:......Meanwhile the idiots in charge cannot even prevent themselves from getting it.

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
I was chatting to my brother last night. He said hospitals can only run at 70-80 % capacity currently and the backlog of surgeries will take at least 5 years to correct.
