Re: What are you doing today ??
That's great. Enjoy it Jack.
Got Ruby my dog back today. Seen her battle scars now after being picked on from 2 bigger dogs (one Rottweiler and another rottweiler cross type dog which are both guard dogs from millionaires row in our area!). Luckily only a bite wound to her bottom (think the two dogs were after her tail to spin her around) and one to her side. I say luckily as the amount of blood there was my partner rang me up screaming thinking she was dieing.
She's very nervous and keeps on crying but she's at home with us in a warm room. Think it's going to be a restless night.

No point getting a pension now days. They pay out the minimum and say your live until you 100! I think it's just another way of robbing you for the rest of your life!

Flew back home from the Gold Coast. Put on nearly 4 pound in 7 days
time to get back into the running me thinks! And lock away the gin bottle.

Happiness is not a destination. It is a way of life.

So the wife comes home today and says i dont have to go into work on Monday .... been made redundant. Did not know this was coming complete shock the company she worked for was not very good at all with staff. I am more annoyed they have done it like they have than the fact they made her redundant.

Sorry to hear that mate.
Hopefully it will turn out be a blessing in disguise for Mrs Rocket, as now that the economy is starting to become more active the more effective companies should be looking to expand.

Always good to get professional advice as it can be a mine field.Rossgo wrote:No point getting a pension now days. They pay out the minimum and say your live until you 100! I think it's just another way of robbing you for the rest of your life!

Absolutely. Plenty of good financial advisors out there who you can explain a situation to and they will find the best solution. Get recommendations with friends, but also double check their figures.Blade wrote:Always good to get professional advice as it can be a mine field.Rossgo wrote:No point getting a pension now days. There are also plenty of naughty ones, I once caught out a financial advisor of ours who was trying to pocket 10k of fees (which came out of my pension!) on one of my pensions on a transfer for doing 30 minutes work. The shiny shoed bastard didn't get any more of my business and I dealt with the transfer myself for £100. I also shopped him to the FSA but they did nothing.
It's better now as the laws state all commissions need to be transparent. But there are some good ifa's out there.
Pensions now are a waste of time in my opinion. If you have an existing one they can be useful, but a new one - I won't advise my kids to get one, but I do think you need to grow money every month somewhere for the future. You can make more money yourself if you are proactive with investments and spread some risk.
You lose sometimes but in the main it's not too difficult to beat pensions or basic isas which pay cock all these days.

Blade
I am paying into the national pension scheme that everyone has to do with my work. However just paying minimum I have to as I really don't see my return. The retired guys who used to work for us have come back even after paying a pension since being in their twenties. I'm pretty confused about it all in all honesty. I'm hoping when I retire I don't have to carry on working if I don't have to then I am 1 up!! Lol
