Well.... off to Poitiers this morning to visit many more dealers. Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Indian (nope) and Ducati. Mrs C has now sat on more bikes than all of us combined I suspect.

At Ducati, we had a good look at the Scrambler - initial impressions were ok however they had several versions in the shop - each is very distinctive and different. Ducati have been very clever with them.

Then she sat on an Icon Dark - hmm, this isnt bad..... So before she could get off it I arranged a test ride and off she went.

The other bikes dont have the poke of this - plus the 800 VTwin is a classic Ducati engine - good sound too. She came back - only issues? Bars too high and seat slightly wide - dealer offered to change them for the lower black bars from the Full throttle and a different seat if required - so a deal has been done (thank god) on a new one.

Bike is in stock, however bars are not, so we wait 3 weeks, but that gives us time to sort the dosh and insurance.

This pic (minus the termi) is about right with the new bars.

Oh he has a V4 Streetfighter in stock as well - said i could buy it if i want. I sat on it a lot - Mrs C's face was a picture

Not quite sure why it’s taken Ducati 4 years to work out that the Scrambler looks best in black but it does.

Well to round this all off, it was new bike day today, so we went up to Poitiers and collected it.

Needs running in of course, but i'll post up my thoughts when i can get hold of it - first impressions are it's a great looking bike and sounds good even before run - in., especially out the showroom and on the roads - busy week this week, but i'll take some better photos when i have time in the sunshine

Well we went out before it got too hot this morning and did a couple of hours of running in - it was 27 degrees at 10am this morning, so an early pootle, but fun. I got 30 mins on it once we got back and it's a lovely bike - it turns in so very easily, very flexible v-twin, but mirrors are not vibey at all which is a nice surprise - really good.

Quick enough that's for sure and nice sure footed brakes. Even the tyres seem fine to me.

Needs running in as got a false neutral or two, but you can tell it's tight. Quick enough too.

Limited to 6k until 1000 kms but you dont need much more than that with the torque anyway.

False neutrals on new Ducatis are a thing. Once its got a few miles on it, it will ease up.

When i rode the Desert Sled a few weeks back, i was astonished how grippy the tyres were on the road and they are the next step up in off road tyre.

Not sure how they would be in the wet but in the dry there were no issues at all and loads of grip.

Alison reckons if we move over there, she will want to come out on the pillion with me, so a Scrambler might be just the perfect bike for a two out ride to the coffee shop/patisserie/coast.
