This is interesting. It would seem there is no requirement to have a headlight hard wired to on. Its dome to make life easier for manufacturers.

That said, i'm still not sure what an insurance company would make of it. Were someone to pull out on you at a junction and lights had been covered it might end up in a dispute as to who is partly liable.

Interesting read but not sure how credible any of it is. Is it just one persons opinion ? Is there any facts to back up his opinion ?

Not sure about that, but I do remember reading a study about these new very bright (Xenon?) headlights do make it more difficult to judge closing speed.

Tbh if daylight visibility is a problem there are better solutions governments could make mandatory than having lights hard wired on. Lights are for driving in darkness or reduced visibility IMO.
