At least you're okay, shame about the bike but it sounds like it's (possibly) being upgraded to a triumph.

Well the bike is now at the Honda Dealer and assessor will be coming Friday to have a look...

Whatever happens I think it will get changed for something else. Nothing too exotic, but easier to ride and full of character.

Nope. It slid in its left, front tyre hit the kerb then the bike bounced off the kerb into the road and hit a passing HGV

Any damage to the HGV.?
I guess it's a good thing you weren't still on it by that point Kwacky.

Fwiw unless those front stanchions are bent ( I can't really tell from the photo ) it looks like a "Cat B" write-off to me. If so, a cracking track bike project for someone.

The bike hit the wheels of the truck, so no damage.

I don't know what the salvage categories are in France or if they even exist.

Harsh, yet fair.

All I can say is, thank God you were ejected before the HGV !!!

It's likely all superficial damage. Bent forks usually just need to be unpinched, bounced and retorqued. Fairing damage is expensive though for OEM (£2500 for mine)

Glad you're fine, Kwacky

Scariest thing was being in front, knowing we were passing a huge HGV and hearing a massive crunch!.

I parked the bike and ran back up the hill - best thing ever seeing Kwacky pissed off, but standing! I had all sorts in my head for a few seconds.

It will be interesting what they decide to do with it. It's 15 years old, but almost mint condition. It had done less than 15k miles and was well looked after, but i'm not sure of it's worth against repair cost here.

Things like new clocks and i suspect new ignition system as well as new plastics, lights, headstock and the other gubbins under the plastics may tip the balance. The R&G's saved the side of the bike i think, but i didnt have a detailed look so there may be more. It also needs new clutch and brake cylinders / levers etc and most of the controls were ripped off the bars.

Ultimately it doesnt matter, it's an exercise to understand how they deal with things over here and it's already shown me we need to change insurance company as it was easy to make a claim, but organising garages and getting the bike there wasnt made as easy as it should of been, so in some ways it was useful - if a bit extreme :D (whew)

I've already started talking to Mrs C about a new bike anyway - she deserves a new one after 15 years tbh.
