It might be selfish but I think while we're strapped for cash we should postpone foreign aid and spend it here in the UK on police, schools and hospitals.
Charity begins in your own home....not someone else's.

I watched something on the telly a month or two back with an interview with a 20-something Ethiopian.
He can't remember the drought and famine as he wasn't born, and he feels the country is doing well now. He was indicating that he felt foreign aid was an insult to the people as it isn't needed anymore.

Foreign aid is taking money (taxes) from poor people in rich countries and giving it to rich people in poor countries .
