Don't think it would have passed scrutineering. "A work of art in cable ties & duct tape" was how the MSV guy described it when he confronted me in the collection area waiting to go out on track.
He also asked me to keep an eye out for black flags, in case any bits started falling off, the cheeky git.! :P

Glad you're mostly ok StM, that was a tough job you did there, getting that back together and ready for the afternoon sessions, but a big up to you for unloading the horticulture and getting it sorted!

Feck! Glad you are OK and at least the bike looks repairable.

Not too expensive I'm thinking mate,

I did have an unforseen issue after my first hard session of the afternoon.: My fuel light came on. :^
As I mentioned, my was broken off inside the ignition barrel. Spare key is at home. (doh)
So I trotted off round the paddock hunting out every Triumph there, to try their keys in my fuel cap. only 14x Triumphs, and (unsurprisingly) none worked.
So in the end I picked the lock, and whilst I had it open I removed the security bolt inside so that I could unscrew the three allen bolts to remove the whole cap for subsequent refuelling.

(wait) Lastly I haven't gone all narcissistic (well, no more so than usual anyway (blush) ). This thread & it's title was created by Tankslap admin. I only dropped it in as a "what have you done on your bike today" post,
N.B. That's not a complaint, just wanted the rest of them to know Admin'. (y)

Every crash needs its own thread, it's not narcissistic mate, it's a motorbike forum!!

Good work on the patch work, the removal of dirt makes it look heaps better :P

Thanks again for your positive messages guys.
Fkkr1s, I actually hate crashing anywhere. Unfortunately as soon as I release my enthusiasm, my sheer lack of ability pulls me up short. I seem to crash a lot at Cadwell purely because it's my closest track & therefore my most visited one. Fwiw I think I've crashed at every track I've ever ridden.
Luckily my shoulder's fine Rocket, just a dull ache already. I was very luck in that respect.

I've just been having a go at Alloy welding together the jigsaw that used to be my clocks/fairing bracket.

I don't envy you trying to weld that clock bracket back together StM, is it a lost cause or will it weld? I seem to remember them as being die-cast and a peculiar alloy? :S
Fwiw I've crashed at nearly all the tracks I've visited as well - the only exception being Silverstone, if you don't crash occasionally on track you aren't trying hard enough. ;)

I got the Daytona 600 one welded up, because they are rare as rocking horse sh*t. The guy did a good job. I made up a jig for it so it all held in position. I'll try and find the photo.

It's actually welded ok thanks. 8)
I used Argon gas & .8mm alloy wire in my little Mig Welder. I don't think Matty would be very impressed with how my weld looked (I cut it in deep & left a high seam which I then filed down flush with the surrounding areas). It seems pretty strong, and lines up ok-ish. (smirk)
When it's in place, you can't really see any of my "handiwork"

Getting the broken stub of my key out of the ignition barrel is proving rather more challenging, :S

I've done something remarkably similar in the past and managed to get mine out with tweezers and pins to prise it out. If that doesn't work have a look at mitre bond adhesive from screwfix etc. It's basically super glue with an activator so you could put a tiny blob on a match stick or similar and then put it in place and spray with the activator so it sets instantly and then pull it out. Good luck! The Triumph key is a rare shape apparently but some key cutting places do keep suitable blanks for future issues!
