I was told different and only engine warranty claims would be void and then only if the ecu modifications could be proved to have contributed to the failure.
For example how can a claim for a faulty brake master cylinder be rejected because the ecu has been altered ? Granted if an engine failure can be proved to have been caused from ecu modifications this would be void of warranty but not in the brake master cylinder example as the ecu mods have no effect on the failure of the brake master cylinder.

Sorry, I didn't realise you wanted a full legal advice. That's £225 an hour plus disbursements, with the money up front please
The context of the thread was an engine failure on a Prila. I thought that's what you meant.

I think the onus would be on the owner to prove that modifications did not cause a failure rather than the manufacturer to prove it did.

Re: Aprilia, Race ECUs and warranty
Just checked with the kwack guy I know at head office ,if you fit a PC or flash your ecu your warranty for the complete bike is void but this would have to be found out be a dealer 1st.Why would sombody check your ecu if your brake was fooked ? ,doubtful so you would probably get away with it

Re: Aprilia, Race ECUs and warranty
I'm sure you'd hear something like - "The brakes are designed for a certain engine output therefore the extra output achieved by the aftermarket part installed could be in excess of the brakes fitted to this vehicle and could have contributed to the failure".
They'd probably say the same if the fuel tank lid seized in all honesty

Re: Aprilia, Race ECUs and warranty
Ive not heard about any troumph approved accessory invalidating warranty.
What i did find funny is that we give warranties on our spoked wheels but harley don't. Not sure about others.
