1299 now comes with free Akrapovic exhaust.
Good deal as thick end of two and a half grand of titanium and carbon fibre exotica thrown in for free.

Re: Ducati launching 9 new models for 2016
why haven't they just stuck to the collect box style exhaust like the last few years, looks like we have gone full circle and back to them hanging of the side again.

Fit extra cats in there to meet Euro4 regs.
Not sure about 959 but I believe the 2016 zx10r has three cats.

One big cat and two separate silencers in the 959. The days of noisy bikes as standard are over.

At least with then going back to the side aftermarket slipons will be back and affordable again.

If they are so worried about emissions how come you are still allowed to rip all that crap off and put aftermarket stuff on?

Re: Ducati launching 9 new models for 2016
I think inevitably this will happen and only approved accessories will be allowed to be fitted to maintain legal status.
Manufacturers are already switching onto this and building higher spec models for example HP4, R1M etc...

I wouldn't be surprised if Euro 5 due in 2020 finishes aftermarket cans for good, especially with the car emissions scandals happening.kiwikrasher wrote:If they are so worried about emissions how come you are still allowed to rip all that crap off and put aftermarket stuff on?
VW got caught but i'm reading reports of newer cars with worse actual readings that VWs. The new Mercedes C Class is particularly bad apparently.

How different is this to now?? Most bikers, myself included, have a pre-mot check list of stuff that has to be replaced to pass...Blade wrote:I think inevitably this will happen and only approved accessories will be allowed to be fitted to maintain legal status.

Re: Ducati launching 9 new models for 2016
So why ban aftermarket kit if the OEM kit is just as bad if not worse ?
Surely if kit meets the specification regardless of manufacturer it will be legal otherwise OEM items will have a monoply on spares.

I suspect insurance companies may insist on approved parts fitted only in the not too distant future.
Think that may already be the case in Germany.

Re: Ducati launching 9 new models for 2016
That sounds highly likely tbh Duke.
I reckon manufacturers are aware of this hence high spec items in most manufacturers accessories catalogues.
Ducati were the original masters of performance accessories but BMW and Yamaha are catching on and Akrapovic and Gilles seem to be doing well out if it.
