Not good news Spudda but on a postive it does sound like your wife is being looked after very well which is good to hear. I really admire your wife's bravery and determination which I'm sure is a key part in beating this horrible disease.

Op all done and successful but they said that last time ..
She's sore as there was a lot of infection but not as sore as the first time but on the positive side she may be able to come home on Thursday rather than the Friday but we'll know more later

Is it just me or do you think its wrong that people can get bugs and infections in a surgical ward .. it bamboozles me.
You would have thought it would have been one of the safest enviroments

Unfortunately not Spudda, same happened to my dad early this year post a bowel fix up op, after his original one was botched 5 years ago. Hospitals actually house the worst of bugs, and because of the high level of medication within the hospitals they are more resistant to antibiotics as well.

Hospitals haven't got the funding to be ultra clean. Plus there are super bugs to deal with.

Not sure that is true.

Its more to do with how they decide to spend their money on things which might seem to the outside world as superfluous.

The NHS is generally managed by a lot of inccompetence.

OK, I'll put it another way. Not enough money is given to those responsible for cleaning.

I don't want to see this thread used as an argument about application of funds within the NHS.

Fingers crossed this is the last hurdle she has to get over Spudda, good thoughts coming your missus way from all here.

I don't think its very unusual for some infection after such big ops to be honest.

Managed to get her home after a little negotiation with the nurses ... she needs rest and relaxation and she'll get that at home just as much, if not more than a ward with 8 other poorly patients

Sore but not as sore as the first op which is understandable

They took out the surgical implant, cleaned the infection and replaced the implant with what can only be described as a balloon.
They'll fill the balloon with saline gradually, to keep the shape and not to stretch the scar tissue which will hopefully help the infection heal.

Then in about 6 weeks if all goes as planned, theyll burst / remove the balloon and replace it with another permanent surgical implant. Its a local Anesthetic and 8 hours in hospital which to her, seems a breeze after all the other procedures.

She's a little down and teary as you'd expect but as she has been, from day 1 positive and knows that this set back wont deter her from making a full recovery.

Spudlets 2 & 3 go back to school on Friday and I think she was determined to be at home to wave them off
(for the record, Spudlet 1 starts senior school on Monday)

A bit of normality at home will do wonders for her recovery.

Recovering at home is certainly preferable to being on a ward. My best wishes to you and yours.

Couldn't agree more, hope she's enjoying being at home, at the very least it'll allow her to get some sleep - I know sleep is rare on a Hossie ward.

It's got to be better in your own bed than any hospital bed. Fingers crossed for a quick recovery.

Jo had the all clear following reconstructive surgery but we have just been hit with "Suspected secondary Cancer of the Brain"

Absolutly Gutted for her .... early stages but we have an appointment with the Oncologist tomorrow

she's in Hospital on steroids to try and reduce the swelling on brain where they can take more scans for a full report
