The Pfizer one needs to be stored at -80c. Can't see too many Doctors surgeries having that facility.
The logistics alone of ensuring the vaccine reaches poeple is massive.

It's been rushed in order to save lives.
I'm fine with people being in a hurry about stuff like that.

When did rushing ever result in great results? Prioritising - yes. Rushing - no.

It's been rushed in order to
make as much profit as possible with a side effect of saving some lives.
I'm fine with people being in a hurry about stuff like that.
Fixed that for you D.

There is some fascinating stuff regarding vaccines i was reading the other day.
Vaccines had totally elimated smallpox and polio, but the article i was reading, which was a medical website not some hearsay internet rubbish, said that one of those vaccines, i cant remember which one, had led to a mutated version of the virus from the vaccine, which was making some people very ill again.

Its polio. So it just shows how careful we have to be.

That's exactly my understanding of "rushed" in the context of what we're talking about.
A "rush order"...."put a rush on it" - put it ahead of everything else, etc .

How do you rush testing the effects of a vaccine?

Exactly, Kwacky.
Even "accelerated life testing" of a product isn't perfect but it gives you a good idea of what to expect. You will never get a full picture from accelerated life testing because you can never plan for every eventuality.

Rushed, prioritized, accelerated, etc,......all mean pretty much the same thing to me. Unless someone chooses to view them negatively, I suppose. It's splitting hairs, IMHO.

They're VERY different meanings.

Not to me, not in this context.
And I'll leave it at that.

Watching a news item....Pfizer is reporting that they have a vaccine which is roughly on par with the vaccine for chickenpox (I think?)
Either way, I they're reporting it to be @ 90 percent effective.

Are you f**king serious??? Duke posted about this a page and a half ago and it is literally what all the conversation on this thread is about since...

I didn't realize it was the same item and/or vaccine.
I'm just watching it for the first time on TV, that's all.

So you were engaging in vigorous debate in this thread without actually clicking the link that started the debate and having a read and understanding first?
Makes total sense

Actually it might be:
Covid 19, Donald Trump. Farage, Johnson and Putin.
