Not a good day, but got away lightly so could have been worse and I'll live so chalking it up as experience although admittedly not a good one.

Impressive and thoughtful attitude to take, mate. I'd admit that I would struggle to do the same, excellent reflection on your character (y)
Cheers Mac, I'm going to print and frame that, I don't think anyone has ever spoke so highly of me (facepalm) well maybe me mam once (giggle)

Seriously cheers mate generous and kind words (y)

I can sort out ride outs, piss ups, track days, photographers, models, decals and legal advice

If only they made a reliable 875 sportsbike, now that would get my interest.

Saved about 30 minutes off my travel time. So glad I was on the bike this morning. The traffic was backed up for a couple of miles just for a slip lane. Then there was another 3 or 4 miles of tailbacks once I had got to another road I have to use.

Glad I dont use a car much. It took the taxi an hour for a 20 minute drive up to the airport this morning and leaving the NEC on Sunday heading north it wasn't till I got past Stoke that the grid lock eased.

I'm glad the government announced a huge investment in our roads the other day it is desperately needed.

Wished they hadn't started and "investment" into one of the roundabouts near where I'm working at the moment. Traffic was a fricking nightmare.

Going to see if they have seen sense and reopened the road properly tomorrow, if not there may be some bike commuting again.

I froze my nads off on the way home. That's the first proper chilly ride of the winter.

Fair Play to anyone still riding now, I must be getting old (giggle)

I swapped the optimate between mine and Di's bike the other day and patted the trusty race bike (wasntme)

I don't mind short spells in the cold but I hate it when it starts to set in and you can feel your legs going cold.

I thought it was my crappy gear why I was cold on way home. Obviously getting colder then.

Brrrrr, even colder this morning. I'm going ebay to look for some handguards, and then order the Trumph heated grips....

I always thought headed grips were for pussies....until I got a pair 16 years ago and now it's the first thing I add to any new bike.

I'd also love some hand guards but they might look a little OTT on a Honda Blackbird, maybe a set of handlebar muffs?

Totally agree with Rig, first heated grips were on the tiger, and I loved them, makes a cold days riding doable.
The Beemer has them as standard now and they are very welcome, I would have fitted some if they were not.

As for hand guards, I think they are as much use as a chocolate tea pot, I have them on the tiger, they don't stop anything, including last year on a rat run, freezing cold and very large stone flicked up and hit my finger, I thought I had broken it! I was in pain all bloody day :(

Very cold this morning. -1 when I left the house. My RST gloves are warmer than the Alpinestars I've got.

+1 for heated grips. I had them on a loan Sprint ST and they were a Godsend.

When I used to commute to the refinery on the Daytona during winter I regularly used to head off into below zero temps till I got clear of the hills. I tried everything to keep my hands warm as I wasn't going to be an old fart with heated grips. I gave in and put some aftermarket ones on, wish I'd done it months earlier!!

Like others I thought heated grips and even heated seats in cars were just gimmicks but they are awesome and highly recomennded.

Not tried then but reckon heated gloves would be even better as less heat loss to the air.

I'm too cheap and don't do enough cold miles to warrant it, so if I have to do a cold ride where my fingers are going numb I slip my gloved hands onto the engine block. It's a naked bike so no hassle get my hands in there!

I imagine the effect is similar to heated grips.

That are turned up too high.

And aren't grips.

And only heat up one hand at a time.

And only the right hand when slowing down.

Other than that, just like heated grips!
