Re: What are you doing today ??
My final ever primary school athletics carnival.
Jorja is off to high school next year and as such was competing in senior girls.
High jump 1st (highest qualifier, including senior boys)
100m 1st
200m 1st (fastest qualifier incl. boys)
Long Jump, didn’t register but a teacher told her to give it a go... 1st.
Discus 1st
Shot Put 1st in age group, only person in the school to beat her was a yr below girl who represents NSW State in national comps and was using a 1 kg lighter put being in the under 11’s.
That was all the events they did and she cleaned up every one of them!!!
So very proud dad day, just hope the regionals carnival is on before I go to work again.
Also a tad frustrated that she didn’t keep up doing competition Athletics, she did a summer of it 4 yrs back but didn’t like the catty girls that were there and thought they were top shite, and snobbed Jorja if she did better than them.
But she’s loving her netball and has been asked to try out for reps next year so pleased she’s being active and enjoying sport.

First day back using the train to Brum. I suspect it’s going to be almost empty.

Wow, that's an impressive sweep by any standards Kiwi. Hopefully that will help to give her the assured self confidence to make a successful transition to her new school.

She did well to get out of it mate.. better for her mental health to get away from those girls!!!
I used to compete for County at National levels and the girls were appalling vicious. Few girls don't end up with eating disorders. Boys on the other hand... I had a wooden wedge door stop thrown at the back of my head by a javelin thrower. Missed dinner that night because it wouldn't stop bleeding.

Went for a play in the snow.
We have a arctic blast coming through atm and there is snow about 30mins up the mountain from my place. Was a couple of years ago last time we saw snow this close.

I'm on amber alert for the Wife this morning. She had a stretch and sweep by the Midwife yesterday and is at 2cm dilated, she's lost more plug last night and this morning and has an "icky tummy".... also known as contractions.
I'm in the office just for half a day anyway so heading home in little over an hour. We are very excited for baby to make their appearance soon!

Car just passed it's MOT with flying colours and I'm now sorting my mother's computer out.
2nd covid vaccination at 12 then will see what happens, depends on how I react to that.

Still in my Wife. "A good 2cm" is today's little headline from her appointment
