Well the view from France isn't pretty.

I've been out and about today to see what's going on, done some shopping (not stockpiling, just normal stuff) and had a look at the real situation.

Sadly the frogs have shrugged their shoulders even though most things have been forceably shut. The only things allowed open are banks, chemists, tabacs, garages and food shops (mostly there are others but more niche stuff).

Because rural frenchies don't generally give a shit about most things in life there has not been the mass stockpiling of the UK, however shelves are beginning to look bare - tins and freezer items mainly, but it seems supply is becoming a problem here, as well as everyone not staying in.

There are rumours circulating (which don't help) that the French government have seen this - Paris hasn't listened for example - so they will lock down like Spain and Italy.

I have a funeral to go to tomorrow of a friend (not related to Covid-19) and they are the only gathering exempt from restrictions, but i can see it being the last proper outing for a while.

It is easier in the middle of nowhere as i'm sure it wont be policed as well as towns and cities, but its going to be a lonely few months i think.

My thoughts are with the fragile, the old, small businesses that go under and those who cant fend for themselves, of which there are a lot of people. Over here there are a lot of gites, admittedly bought by over optimistic ex-pats who rely on the income to live on that will end up destitute come Easter and the Summer.

I'm going to spend my time helping people around here, they will need our help. I hope it brings communities together and makes people realise how ridiculous the current convenience way of life is. Probably not, but i'm an optimist and always will be
