It's exactly that, and we ignore it at our peril. It's how fascism works, it doesn't just show up in jackboots. It builds hospitals, and houses, gives people good jobs and improves people's sense of wellbeing and national pride. Before dividing people with hate and fear.

Scares the shit out of me!

This is Russia's current position. It looks like a climb down to me from their starting point

Russia twice went against the ceasefire which would have enabled the evacuation of civilians. They have now offered evacuation routes leading directly to Belarus or Russia only.

I read it more as Russia dangling a carrot, but I'm not as clued-in on the politics involved as most people.

My very simplistic view of this…

Putin is playing chess. These are his opening moves. He’s targeting civilian populations, cease fires are being ineffective, and he’s attacking nuclear installations that could threaten all of Europe.

He’s forcing the West to intervene. I have the feeling that’s exactly what he wants.

I feel China will fully back up if this goes global, and I’m guessing that their intention.

100% he's trying to invoke a reaction. It's why I don't trust that he didn't just walk in and flatten Ukraine which he undoubtedly could.

I really don't know about China. They have an incredible lucrative relationship with the West but I don't know anymore than that.

Western sources are disclosing satellite images from the Russian invasion staging posts. Russia has now moved 100% of it's pre-invasion forces. They're going to have to start moving stuff from other regions pretty soon.

100% of its pre-invasion forces? Moved them where?

Why flatten the place? He's taking over the place, if he flattens it someone has to rebuild it.

I haven't got a clue what he's going to do.

I do think he's f@cked up though. I think he's watched the west not give a shit about the Syrians, Iraqis, Afghans, Yemeni and Palestinians and assumed we would react the same when the people are white and broadly European.

But the reaction from the MSM and the support from the general population has been very different to previous wars/refugee disasters.

Trains can't go where they want, they rely on someone changing the tracks. I'd be surprised if the Russians have taken over all the signal boxes!

That convoy will be a smouldering wreck pretty soon.

That's a good deal for everyone. Ukraine gets jets, Poland upgrades its air force and will have NATO compatible aircraft and the USA gets to sell some old stock.
