That's alright... electricity and water work really well together!

Measure 200 times, drill once

Just been in the loft in the middle of a humongous storm to se where our very minor water leak is.

It appears to be getting in either through or around an air vent. It's the must inaccessible part of the space for it to be. But a large towel is sufficient to soak up the drips for now.

Fwiw a relative of mine had an intermittent leak a some years ago that sounds very similar. In his case I figured out that the air brick on the outside wall backed onto a clay duct to cross the cavity, however that duct had been fitted sloping slightly downwards to the inside. So (only) when the rain was driven at that elevation the damp patch would appear on the wall beneath.

It's an air vent on a pitched roof at the front of the house.

I can't get close enough without some more boards at the moment but I needed to see in a downpour as it doesn't leak on just a wet day and their is no apparent misplaced tiles on the roof. I could do with a drone really but in any case there is no way I am climbing on any roof.

It maybe that when I can see from directly underneath that I can what the problem is.

Could be wind direction and volume of water in a downpour - not uncommon.

Its quite possible. The water was only dripping through even thiough it was the mother of all downpours so i might just put a drip tray there and leave it.

Call a roofer Duke. We had similar in the last house. If its minor it should be less than 100 quid to see it fixed and thats got to be better than worrying it will get worse or remembering to empty drip trays.

Just sat next to the canal wasting time, cars in for a service but no loaners at the moment and no waiting at the dealership, they included 2 free services with the car so I may as well use them.

Already walked about a mile, I really should do more excercise while the gym is closed. (facepalm)

Edit
After walking 3 miles I feel fine, they wanted to replace my front brake discs and pads for £99 and were told to leave that alone. There's a rusty track about 10 mm across on the back of both discs near the middle, nothing to worry about.
The pads are only about 1/4 worn so it will be right.

A "premium" disc and pad kit is £50 from the city bug store... I like actual premium, I can get Brembo discs with ebc pads for under £75, the dealership would have fitted el-cheapshite for that £99.

Also took the front bumper off and replaced the weedy horn with a pair of Hella twin tones, all done right with a relay, much better.

I did that in yesterdays lunch break and did the "5 things" countdown. 5 things you see, 4 things you hear, etc.. It really helped relax me for the remaining time in the office that afternoon

Just check the tray from time to time :D

I’ll check it later to see how much water it collected. I do suspect it’s just the case that torrential rain and the accompanying swirling wind forces it through the vent. There is a vent on the other side of the pitch and there is no problem with that but the shape of the roof is different.

It only happens on storm conditions.

Poor MiL had raining coming through her ceiling last night but there was nothing we could do. Police were telling people not to go out at all.

Byron finishes school at 11am on Thursday’s at the moment as sport isn’t being run due to COVID restrictions and they are using that time for students to catch up on work they didn’t complete during home schooling.

Luckily Byron and his best mate were of the 14 kids in the whole school that had completed all their home schooling as required. So they get an early mark.

So I picked him and his mate up and after a quick lunch we headed bush to give the new rubber a run. Must say the MUX is much more capable off-road now with the mods I’ve done, and still to do the suspension lift/upgrade. Was good to get it out and get it dirty. Who knew 13 yr old boys would enjoy doing donuts in the mud (lol)

Photo is pre mud fun

That truck just needs an auto-harpoon fitted & it would look right at home in Mad Max : Beyond Thunderdome.

Nah mate it’s mild compared to some of the 4WDs around here.
