Re: What are you doing today ??
Just found and applied for one in Droitwich Spa. Slightly longer commute but easy M5 journey and on significantly more money. The company are lighting specialists so it's a new area for me which would be interesting. I'll be able to tell you all about Osrams vs everything else

Re: What are you doing today ??
If I get an interview I'll let you know.. we can meet up for a coffee, cake and camera exchange
Any tips for what to write in a request for redundancy email?
I'm very close to pulling the trigger on it. I've realised I'm no better off if I stay as I will continue to look and apply for new jobs anyway. I've not been happy here for some time so this is my opportunity.

No idea, I don't do employment law. I suppose it's just a case of letting them know they if they are looking for volunteers you would like to be considered. What you don't want to do it make it sound like you're quitting

Definitely don't want to make it sound like that. It's one heck of a tight rope

Late start today so application sent to a house building company, slight pay cut to start but they actively look for people to train up to higher paid role's.
Got an email back just now saying that they like my CV and will include me in the next round of recruitment..
Again, fingers crossed.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Email requesting redundancy sent:
Dear HR,
I would formally like to announce my request for redundancy.
My reason for this request is two-fold:
Firstly, this process is highly stressful and after a lot of deliberation I have come to the conclusion that knowing my fate is the best option for me at this time; knowing I don’t have a job at [company name removed] is easier for me to deal with than not knowing.
Secondly, compared with other colleagues who I am going to be compared against and due to the position I am in within my career, I feel I have a good chance of finding alternative work following the completion of my leaving.
I should make it clear that I do not have job offers, or even interviews. I would be unemployed following the redundancy.
I have enjoyed my time at [company name removed], I have learned a great deal of extremely valuable knowledge and skills here too, however, for the reasons outlines above I wish to be considered for redundancy.
Best regards,

Re: What are you doing today ??
Personally I would have waited to see what was happening. They can't tell you anything before they make a formal announcement.

Maybe I've worked myself up over it, maybe it's the wrong thing to do.. I just hope that if it's between me and someone else, this email to them is enough for them to choose me over the other person.
I just want to know.
I just want to know.

Cav what is done is done. However I personally believe you have made a sound call over your own future, you are no longer in limbo and sounds like you don't have to be unhappy doing what you are doing. Your strings are fully in your hands, now find a new job and fingers crossed the new company will be more happier environment for you buddy. Let us know how it goes. I have full confidence in you finding a new role somewhere where you feel happier. Why, because I managed it and If i can do it I'm certain you can bud

Reflecting
Got married a week ago. Gone on honeymoon. Having a blast in the sun. Enjoying life once again
Looking back over the past few years work wise. Thinking how at one point I had just given up on a job I was once good at, was keen to do well in and enjoyed working with the people. How it all flip reversed when management stopped looking at skills and started to bring in cheap labour. Managed to get into a better company, somewhere where skills are most important and ultimately ended me here on honeymoon, being happy in my life.

Re: What are you doing today ??
My phone contract expires in 2 weeks so I looked around for the best deals... SIM-only and New Contract.
I settled for:
Samsung Galaxy S10 (+ free galaxy watch)
Three network
100GB data (ultd calls+texts)
£0 upfront
£45/month
£384 cashback
An additional £42.42 cashback
Old phone trade in of £40.
In total I've gotten £460 off a new phone plus a free £200 watch.
It works out at £26/month which is £4 less than I'm paying now.
