Re: What are you doing today ??
I'm a little torn about whether or not to say anything in here as there's been some bad job related news lately but as you've all supported me through the last couple of years you deserve to know.
I received my pay rise and bonus today - pay rise was pretty good but the main thing is that I have been promoted to Design Engineer!
Finally I have received recognition and it feels pretty bloody good. Thanks to all of you who continue to support me
I owe you all a beer !!!

No mate, you shout out about your achievements. You've worked very hard and you're rightly getting what you deserve. Announce it from the rooftops. You should be proud of what you're doing and where it's taking you.
Big congratulations from me.

Well done, Cav.
Don't be afraid to post your achievements.

Congrats on the promotion, Cav...well deserved, I'm sure.
Not really doing anything today...it's going to be another hot one....ended up being 95F here yesterday & we're in for more of the same today....so I'll be inside sleeping & watching movies, I think.

Thank you all !!
I'm thinking of throwing a BBQ this summer for any of you who wish to come.. You'll likely see the inside of a ZX6R gearbox while you're here!

Re: What are you doing today ??
So kids are with their mum atm, but I had a Speech Assessment I had to take Byron to today. Was a 2.5hr session and I knew he’d be wiped so I just blocked the day off school. So afterwards we kicked out for lunch etc and then hung at home till his Nan picked Jorja up from school and got him as well.
Now close to when he went back to his mums I noticed his toe nails needed trimming. He’s pretty anxious about getting them done and far too scared he’ll cut himself to do them alone. I forgot to sort it before he left and so today suggested I sort it (he doesn’t like his mum doing it).
‘Don’t need to dad. They are sorted’
‘Oh really mate? You cut them yourself?’
‘No, I chewed them’
‘Hang on, you chewed your toenails down??’
‘Yup!’
Sure enough I checked them and they were nicely trimmed bar a couple of rough bits.
‘I can’t believe you managed that mate!’
‘Don’t worry dad, I won’t do it again, it tasted terrible!!!’

Life is never boring with an ASD kid

Re: What are you doing today ??
That does not surprise me!! My brother-in-law-to-be has ASD and this is the sort of thing he would do...
Once we told him if he didn't behave he would only be allowed to drink his pee for the day.
"No! It tastes nasty!"
"How do you know?"
"I tried it once"

Great to hear some positive news Cav, especially after poor old Deegee's recent post.
Fwiw I feel I must reinforce what has been pointed out; Your achievements are your own, and whilst Kwacky's forum may take credit for giving you a medium to identify & rationalise your situations, it is solely you who creates your positive outcomes.
Shame all engineering isn't doing as well as your employer, because if it were I'm pretty certain that Deegee would be having to field off head hunters rather than stress about his family's economic future .

FWIW we're in a damage limitation state currently, no recruiting, not even internal changes. Secondments are also not happening.
I'm fortunate to get a payrise of 5.5% as most around me got the bare 2.1% or slightly more

Kicking the crap out of a barrister who has made a pretty fundamental mistake on a matter. Thankfully for him it's all by telephone. At least he's had the good sense to apologise.
