Took the KTM out for my first long run on the green lanes.
Tried out my new rugged smartphone with the "Guru Maps" app for navigation. I downloaded a route from the TRF site and the system worked perfectly, 5 hours of navigation and the battery was still 75% I think the total distance covered was something like 70 miles or so.
Trail riding is bloody hard work, but it's a hell of a lot of fun, even though you barely get past 30mph most of the time

hoping I can squeeze another run in before holiday madness starts.

Took the day off work and went trail riding with some guys from the local trf group.
115 miles covered, my longest ride by 30 miles. I'm totally knackered and now sat enjoying a beer while the pizza cooks.

Changed the indicator, what a pain for something so simple...
Admittedly most of the time was spent searching for a black plastic wiring loom clip which disappeared through a portal to wherever dropped bolts go.. I heard it bounce off the spokes of the front wheel so I rummaged through a whole section of the garage before giving up on it.. Then there it was, sat on the front suspension arm, well above the wheel which I heard it hit.
Oh and I added a Pecos sticker to the top box.

Where did you go Kwacky? I feel like another summer is coming to an end and I haven't made the most of it. Again.

Burford down in the Cotswolds, across the border to Baffle Haus in Pontypool, up to Crossgates then I headed home via Knighton, Ludlow and Kidderminster.

Bit of a run that is! How do you like Baffle Haus? It's a bit pretentious but the grub is bang on and a decent price.

It was very busy. I agree with you about the rest of it though. They've picked a good spot for it.

Today I took it to the dealers for it's 6K service and to have a couple of minor issues looked at.
They have agreed that the oil level sensor is faulty and they have a used one on a warranty engine to try, if that works they will order a new one under warranty.
The smoking on startup issue didn't happen today so they have asked me to video the exhaust on startup so they can see it, reasonable.
And after 5700 miles my rear tyre is ready for replacement, it's not on it's wear indicators yet but has some small cracks appearing going across the middle of the tyre and it is close to the wear indicators. So I'm trying to choose between Dunlop Mutants or for £19 less, Meridians... Or there's always the Continental Trail Attack 3, I had the Road Attack 3 on the KTM SDGT and they were brilliant on that, the RA4 on the F900 and again no complaints.

Went down to Wiltshire with the TRF group for a camping/ riding weekend.
120+ miles yesterday, and of course the mandatory fall. I was left with a sore leg so bailed on today's ride as I wasn't sure it would cope with hours of standing on the pegs. Consoled myself with drinking way too much cider last night while sitting out under the stars chatting about bikes and riding stories.
Not a bad weekend

Rode it toa new-to-us cafe near Sandsend just north of Whitby. Ham and cheese toastie with coffee and cake, very nice
But on the first startup this morning the bike smoked like never before, and barely a wisp for the rest of the day... I might add the video after dinner.

Yup, that's a bit smoky alright....you've no idea what caused it??

I suspect valve stem seals as it never smokes while riding even when using a lot of engine braking, if it was the rings then engine braking would pull oil past them.
It only smokes after it's been left off for a while and even then it's unpredictable. Before that video the bike was untouched for 6 days on it's centre stand.

About 260 miles up to the lakes to see some friends I've not seen for a while, with lunch at the Patterdale hotel.
No smoke at all today which is nice, but also odd given last weeks smoke show, and I really like the Dunlop Meridians.
They are quicker steering than the RS4's but that could be the difference between new and well used tyres, also stable in corners with no tramlining and absolutely no reaction to finding water running across the road mid corner.
Thumbs up from me.

Had friends to catch up with in the city, so took the Thruxton in. 1.5 hrs each way and half hour in turns from rural nice roads to multi lane garbage, but lane splitting ability saved me a good 30 mins and free motorcycle parking in Sydney CBD was the other win.
Bike didn’t miss a beat, so seems my repair was on point.

Rode the Street Twin (Mrs Cookies bike) for service in Cheltenham.
Lots of torque, no revs.. took some getting used to, but a very chilled ride.

Trail riding training AKA dicking about on someone's yard that has been turned into an off-road playground.
Learned a few useful skills, like handing steep hills when it goes wrong and how to jump over a reasonable sized log.
Great fun, trail ride after age I didn't fall off.
